On the Road! Port Canaveral, Florida, to Savannah, Georgia

Good morning,

We had a very busy day!  We left the beautiful Freedom of the Seas, packed the car, and got on the road to drive from Port Canaveral, Florida, to Savannah, Georgia.
It felt good to be back in the car and headed home to see the entire family which includes two wonderful Labrador Retrievers.
We had a perfect day for driving.
It wasn't long before we were passing...
 ...Daytona Beach.
It is always so wonderful to be back in the USA and to see Old Glory every single time we return.

The trip went very fast and we were delighted to quickly find ourselves approaching Jacksonville, Florida.

Soon we were leaving the Jacksonville area and on our way to our stop for the night, Savannah, Georgia.
And, just inside the Georgia border we made a stop for our first meal since leaving the ship.  There is just something about IHop that makes us want to stop there first when we leave the ship.
Just before we arrived at our Hampton Inn for the night we passed the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum in Pooler, Georgia.  As many times as we have passed this, I had never looked it up on line before.  Follow the link to see more about it.  It looks like a destination point for a very interesting photo trip the next time we are in the area.

Tomorrow we will be on the road again on our way to Cincinnati.  I hope you enjoy our road trip with us.

Very best,
Lois

How many days does it take you to reach home? Welcome back to the U.S.

Hi,

We love the road trips, too. It sure beats flying! We see some wonderful sights that aren't visible from three miles straight up. :)

We could drive through in 18 hours, but we do it in three or more days to enjoy it. It's a buffer between the ship and home and the other way around on the way to the ship.

Thanks for all your good wishes.

Best,
Lois

Hi Lois, enjoy the trip home and if you ever want to take a detour to the VA eastern shore, just let us know cause there's always room for friends at the Frog & PenguINN. Glad to see the weather was cooperative on the first leg; IHOP is one of our favorites too and we generally avoid fast-food places.

It's nice to get away but also also nice to arrive home. I bet those Labrador retrievers will be glad to see you. Your family understands that you'll return but I wonder what the retrievers think/ Oh, maybe they get it too as dogs can be pretty smart.
