My goodness, what gorgeous blond hair. And, that natural wave is so pretty!
I think she is oblivious to it all....

These honeysuckle bushes are growing near our patio. When I stepped outside with the pups, there was a light rain making the leaves shine. So pretty!
The aroma of the blossoms was thick in the air and just heavenly.
I just love Spring!
All the best,
Lois
These are trees at the back of our property. I just love seeing the new leaves emerge and create the look of green lace against the blue sky.
I see colors and designs everywhere for my crochet projects....
Happy Spring!

I'm working on a very colorful afghan blanket this week. I've selected colors of the Land, Sea, and Sky to produce a brilliant blanket that will be enjoyed by all ages.
When finished, it'll be available in the shop.
What are you making, baking, growing this week?
All the very best,
Lois
Last night Kjell, daughter Catherine, our friend Erica, and I had a great dinner with sushi at Tokyo, one of our favorite restaurants. Of course, we enjoyed their delicious sushi.
Thank you, Erica, for this lovely dinner!
All the best,
Lois
The strip of green along the side of our driveway was bursting with violets yesterday morning.
These always bring back fond memories of making violet chain necklaces when I was a child.
Lovely.
Enjoy,
Lois
I caught Kjell hard at work capturing the images of the day.
This important work included images of Lily as she went duck hunting and was skinning the duck all by herself.
Duckie looks so scared!

This is my assistant, Lily. She goes with me everywhere and is always ready to help.
This time I was trying to get to the grandfather clock to adjust the time.
I had to wait until later when my assistant was sleeping....

Lily enjoyed festivities at our dog club this past weekend where she met the Easter Bunny!
We hope you're having a lovely Easter week with your family and friends.

These are just out of the oven.
Today's bread is whole wheat.
So good!
What are you making, baking, growing today?
All the best,

This evening snack was Kjell's dessert.
So simple: orange slices and whipped cream in a glass.
It's funny how the dogs sit and watch him eat it. Every bite he takes is right out of their mouths....

Kjell sent me this image of Tillie, our thirteen year old house guest this week, all curled up under his little computer table in our library area.
Sweet old Tillie is a perfect house guest. So sweet.
Anyone who doesn't know the love of dogs hasn't experienced some of the best of life.

Welcome to this month's Needlework and Wood Working Update where we publish images of what we've completed since the last Update.
Above is a clock that Kjell made of both wood and plastic. The face of the clock is wood and the moving parts are designed by Kjell and made of plastic with his 3D printer. The reason for the plastic is that it is not affected by heat and moisture, so the clock can be more accurate. Sorry, this one isn't in the shop. We're keeping this one. ;)
This is a similar hat to the one above. It is made with the same dye lot yarn, but the lighting on the image makes it look a little different. This one is available here. $12.
That's it for another month. Of course, Kjell and I are both always working on more projects.
Our items are all made in the USA and are ready to ship to your USA address. No tariffs!
We sincerely appreciate your encouragement, likes, shares, favorites, pins, and purchases, too! Thank you so very much for your support of our shop since 2011. Having the shop is a retirement dream come true. :)
All the very best,
Lois
Our sweet Elsa has a sore back so is resting before she competes again in Agility Trials. She is taking three weeks off from showing.
Of course, she is treated as a queen and is napping on the couch.
Feel better, Elsa!
Love you,
Mom
My current Work in Process is a Christening Blanket for the shop. What is so lovely is that these can be handed down through the family and used for each new child.
There are plenty of other items in the shop that are ready to ship now. We hope you'll take a look when you're shopping for baby, weddings, and for yourself! https://evensensproductions.etsy.com

Yesterday was a beautiful, sunny day, although still quite chilly.
We had the five pups (our three Labs and two Border Collie guests) outside for a game of fetch.
The star fetcher was border collie Teddy!
They are the sweetest pups!
Happy Spring!
Lois
This is Teddy, our house guest this week while his Mommy travels.
Teddy is learning to play the Blink Blink game with me. It's a simple game where we take turns blinking our eyes at each other. I Blink Blink; he Blink Blinks. Then after a few of these we all get happy and Teddy gets a cookie.
Our Elsa likes to play this game, too.
Happy Saturday!
Lois
Yesterday afternoon I went out with Kjell and the pups. My intention was to get a picture of the dogs playing on a beautiful April day.
Well, they decided to just chill. That's our friend Tilly, age 13, on the left and our Wendy, age 10. They're happy to have a nice, calm day after every other day this week with the windshield of our car being replaced, our friend Bill here several days cutting our grass, fixing a spot on the back fence, filling in the hole under the old tree so the pups can't dig to some other continent.... The pups have to supervise all of those things, you know.
It was lovely to have a quiet day.
Happy Spring, Everyone! I hope your days are only filled with events that you enjoy. ;)
All the best,
Lois
It was time to replace our flags after a long winter here in Ohio. Kjell ordered new US and Ohio flags, then I helped him raise them yesterday. It takes two of us to get them hooked into the ropes without them touching the ground.
We fly our flags 24/7/365 weather permitting. We have lights on them so they can be flown at night.
We're grateful to live here and to be able to do this.
All the best,
Lois
Those sweet faces are our Elsa (left) and her friend Teddy. Teddy and his sister Tilly are spending the week with us while their mommy travels. It's much nicer to stay with friends than to go to a kennel, isn't it.
So, with our three Labs and our two Border Collie guests, we have five dogs for a week. It's a busy place. It's a good thing they are all very good doggies.
Perhaps I'll get some images of their antics in the next few days.
Watch this space,
Lois ;)
That's a Safelite Auto Glass truck in our driveway, just like an ad on TV. The past few days have been unusual, to say the least.
We have had rain and storms leading to tornadoes and floods. The Ohio River is over its banks, but fortunately we are on high ground. Other people had it much worse than we did. We're lucky our experience wasn't worse and no one was hurt by flying debris from the storms.
A few days ago a storm took the frame off of a window on the third floor of our home. A 100+ year old window weight came loose and landed on the windshield of our car. The window weight was still in the frame of the window after we had had Renewal by Andersen replace all of the windows in the house about 20 years ago.
Anyway, next was the USAA insurance claim, and Safelite in our back yard for nearly five hours replacing the windshield yesterday.
Our friend, Bill, came over and began repairs on the window frame; he'll finish up tomorrow.
That's enough excitement for the rest of the Summer. I'm looking for a very dull week ahead - I hope!
Happy Spring,
Lois
Here is your W-K9 Individual Pet Tax Return Form.
Be sure to grab it here. Your CPA won't have a copy.

We have three Red Bud Trees in our front yard and they are absolutely beautiful this week!
We have had so much rain this week that I didn't leave the front porch to take these images. The ground is so soft and muddy that I probably would have sunk never to be found again.
I hope the weather is dry, warm, and beautiful wherever you are!
All the best,
Lois
Good morning,
Here's a short video from one of our driveway security cameras.
We have had several days of storms here. Not only did we have damage to our car parked behind our home, but there is damage to a window frame on the third floor.
*sigh*
I hope all is well wherever you are....
Lois
We woke up yesterday morning feeling lucky the storms passed here with only making lots of noise and rain, but...
Then Kjell took the pups out and found this. Our car was tucked in behind our home, but something big found it. I've submitted a claim to our USAA insurance. The earliest appointment for Safelite to come here and replace/recalibrate our windshield is next Monday. It's a good thing we're retired! And, we are all safe.
I hope you avoided damage during the recent storms if you were in the path of destruction.
All the best,
Lois
Mother Nature took down two huge trees in our back yard during storms in the last few years. You can see the trunk of one on them at the left of the picture at the end of the fence.
The two missing trees made a big difference in the design of that part of our property. We had had a row of bushes along the top of the stone wall you see in the front of this image, and large honeysuckle bushes along the retaining wall at the back of the property. Most of the bushes were damaged by the falling threes. In fact, that little bend in the chain link fence rail was made by one of those trees coming down. Our gold fish pond is at the far left end of the stone wall.
Now that the land is cleared back there, we're growing ivy to cover the retaining wall and will encourage it to grow on up to cover the chain link fence. I was concerned with the two big trees and all of the bushes gone that we wouldn't have as many birds in the back yard any more, but that is not the case. We have two other large trees out of the picture to the right.
I was very glad to see the birds still visit and sing to us from the remaining trees.
The pups are delighted to have more space for their zoomies. And, it's harder for them to hide from us when they go out at night.
So, here it is Spring. It shouldn't be long before that area is all green again.
Happy Spring!
Lois
My current work in process is a lacy lapghan in two shades of blue. This one is a light to medium weight and will be perfect for cool Spring and Summer evenings, to keep by your reading chair, or have in the car.
It's fun to be making something with a different stitch. I have recently finished a large afghan blanket that I haven't photographed for the shop yet. It's been a busy week and the only days we have been home it has been raining. I like to have sun shining through the french doors when I photo afghans for the shop.
What are you making, baking, growing this week?
All the best,
Lois
There is nothing like home made bread. It makes the house smell so wonderful while baking, and eating it, especially while still warm out of the oven, is fantastic.
The bread was still so warm and soft, it was hard to cut. This corned beef and cheese with mustard sandwich was fabulous.
If you're interested, I've published many bread recipes here.
Yum!
