Needlework Update - July, 2026

 Good morning,

Welcome to the current Needlework Update!  This is where we share needlework items completed since the last update.  

Above is my signature original afghan blanket design in my favorite colors:  New Large Afghan Blanket in Shades of Blue and White.  It was hard to put this one in the shop rather than keep it for ourselves.  $185.  Only one available.  More images and information are here. 

 This is a favorite, too.  The Blue and The Gray Lap Blanket will be welcomed by a man or a woman.  $65.  More images and information here.

What a lovely gift for a student going off to school.   This one happens to be in Georgetown colors.  There are other colors in the shop, too.

 This is a lovely baby shower or first birthday gift.  The turtle is all crocheted together with no loose parts.  The blanket is warm, yet airy enough to use as a breastfeeding cover-up.  $65 for the set.  More here.

Since they take awhile to make and I want to be prepared for the season, I spend much of the Summer knitting and crocheting hats for Fall and Winter.  This is a washable wool blend Scandinavian Intarsia design.  $40.  More images and information here.

Work in Process - Basketweave Hat - Peacock Feather Colors

 Good morning,

I'm working on a basket weave stitch hat in peacock feather colors this week.  It's fun watching the colors change and arrange themselves as I knit.  

I took the image as I had just finished the ribbing and had started the basket weave stitch.

Fun!  I love smaller projects between larger ones.

Work in Process - Tunic Sweater

 

 Good morning,

Here's another Work in Process that I am working on between other projects.  I switch between knit and crochet to give my hands a rest.  It seems knitting is harder on my hands than crocheting.

I've designed this sweater for Catherine.  Her favorite style is a tunic and she likes the yarn.  I've finished the back and have started the front.  It's too warm to wear this now anyway, so I'll continue to work on it alternately with crochet projects.

Work in Process This Week - Intarsia Hat

 Good morning,

My current project is an intarsia knit hat.  When finished, it will be available in the shop.   There are similar hats in other colors in the shop that are available to ship now.

I have been making some smaller items since finishing the Large Warm Rich Browns Afghan Blanket last week.  After a large project, it is fun to switch to some small projects for awhile.

Potholders Made in Norway

 Good morning,

Those lovely pot holders are eleven years old. When Kjell and I visited Norway in 2015 we visited his sister and brother-in-law.  While sitting on their deck, my sister-in-law pulled out her knitting needles, yarn, and began knitting.  Before the evening was over, she handed me this lovely pair of potholders.

These are double thick and just wonderful to use.  I've been using them for eleven years now and they are like new.

I so appreciate hand made gifts.  Thank you, Torild, I think of you every time I use them.

Snow Day Knitting - Custom Order WIP

 Good morning,

Yes, we're snowed in here in Cincinnati under a Snow Emergency which means we aren't supposed to be out driving around.  I have no desire to go out and ride around in this snow anyway! 

 I put down the blue and white lap blanket I've been working on to make a custom order gray wool basket weave hat.   I'll get back to the lap blanket when this is finished.

Needlework and Wood Working Update - November, 2024

 Good morning,

Welcome to this month's Needlework and Wood Working Update where we gather images of all of the items we have completed since the last update.

 This Northern Lights blanket and the following two are a custom order for a lovely lady who ordered them for her granddaughters.

 The border colors will allow the girls to tell them apart.

 What a lovely gift from a grandmother who enjoyed watching the Northern Lights with her three granddaughters.

This hat the the scarf below are hand crocheted from the same dye lot soft warm wool blend yarn and make a lovely set.  Or, they can be purchased separately.  This hat is available here.  $40.
