Fresh Bread

 Good morning,

I made bread yesterday afternoon.  My goodness, the house smelled wonderful.

Marvelous, just marvelous!

I wish I could share the aroma with you....

Chief of Security

 Good morning,

After I turned out the lights, I turned on the flash on my camera and snapped this picture of Erik asleep in the entrance hall of our home.  The flash in the dark room makes our blue carpet look gray.

Erik is Chief of Security and, trust me, if anyone gets anywhere near a door or window, our whole house will know about it.

He's the man!

Sleep tight!

Work in Process this Week - Crochet Sweater

 Good morning,

This is my current work in process.  Actually, it's a large project so I'll be working on it off and on for awhile.  It's not needed until Fall.

I've been asked to replicate a sweater I made more than thirty years ago.  It fits perfectly so I've measured and recomputed the stitches needed to make it.  Quite a process.  I wasn't writing down patterns way back then and I'm sorry I wasn't!

So, I'll work on this off and on until it is finished later this summer.  The colors are quite pretty, aren't they!

What are you making, baking, growing this week?

I truly enjoy reading your blogs and hearing from you.

All the best,

Lois

Free with Prime!

 Good morning,

You get all kinds of perks with Prime!  Look carefully to see our most recent freebee perk!

 A new pet?

No, just a little Wall Lizard.  Harmless.  I took him outside and let him go.

You never know what you'll get Free with Prime!

New Neighbors?

 Good morning,

Elsa and Lily are checking out the noises from the property behind ours.  There are new dogs back there!  Could they be new neighbors?  There are a German Shepherd and two smaller dogs.

I don't think they are new neighbors.  I think they are with the people there cutting the grass.  We'll see....

Aside:  I love the way Lily has her arm around Elsa as she is trying to see over the retaining wall that we are hoping will soon be covered with greenery.

Precious.

Chicken Flavored Popscicles

 Good morning,

Our friend, Bill, picked up fifty pounds of chicken necks and backs for our pups. Our three girls, Wendy, Elsa, and Lily are pictured.

After Kjell has packed the necks into individual containers, the box in which they arrived packed in ice becomes a real treat, especially on a hot day.  The ice is chicken flavored, of course, so the pups are thrilled to finish it off before it melts.

I've posted about the necks and the pup's raw diet before when I took pictures during the process of packing the necks into individual containers to be frozen for use as needed.  See that full post here.

 Ah, yes, Summer fun!

Just Like Human Siblings

 Good morning,

Our pups have more toys than they can possibly play with in months.

We buy some of them, but most come from successful runs at dog shows.  At the end of a winning run, they are often allowed to select a toy from the toy box.   Our pups come home with lots of them!

But, in these images, you'll see they are more interested in sticks, specifically, the same stick.
The three girls have been carrying around and chomping on the same stick for days. It has been a battle to keep them from sneaking it into the house where it takes the shop vacuum to make the carpet clear again.
So, here they are, all chomping on the same stick.

Kids.  ;)

They're so cute and predictable....

Elsa at the Agility Trials

 Good morning,

These are a few of the professional photographer's images of Elsa at the most recent AKC Agility Trials.

Our sweet four year old is excelling at

 everything that she tries.

She is collecting ribbons and titles very early in her career!

We are so proud of Elsa and her trainer/our daughter, Catherine.

Team Elsa is fantastic!

Love you both,

Needlework and Wood Working Update - June, 2023

 Good morning,

It has been a very busy couple of months of appointments for both Kjell and me so this Needlework and Wood Working Update covers the past two months.

Above you see the beautiful wind chime that Kjell made for our back yard.

The sail for the wind chime has the names of all of our pups for the past 25 years engraved on one side...

...and this lovely sentiment on the other.

Kjell made this for me for Mother's Day.  He is working on patterns and designs to make coaster sets for the shop.  Stay tuned!

Originally, Kjell was making these to put in the shop, but they somehow detoured to our Schooner Bar instead.  That happens often around here.  ;)

Little tags for our pups with Catherine's office phone number on them.

Finally, here is something Kjell made that made it to the shop.  These are two of a set of four coasters that are engraved on cork.  "Coffee Lovers" is engraved on one side, "Wine Lovers" is engraved on the other side of each coaster.  So, they are useful from morning to evening.  ;)  $10, set of four.  More images and information are here.

This afghan blanket is new to the shop.  I love how the colors came together so beautifully!  It's red, white, and green that is perfect for the holiday season or any season.  $165.  More images and information here.

Two more of these cloche hats/chemo caps are in the shop.  This one is crocheted of a wool blend yarn that is extra warm and comfortable.  $15.  We have dozens of cloche hats/chemo caps available in a variety of fabric content and sizes from $8.  See them all here

These luggage identifiers are useful any time you travel.

They make it super easy to find your luggage in cruise or airline terminals.

Be sure to put one on your carry-on, also, so you can show it to the porter or cab driver to help find your luggage quickly.  I have personal experience with these and how helpful they are when finding my luggage among the thousands on the conveyor belts.  $5 for a set of six.  See all available colors here.

So, we are all caught up!  Come see what else we've made here EvensensProductions.com.

We sincerely appreciate your encouragement, comments, likes, shares, and purchases, too!

All the very best,

Lois

The lilies in the blue pots on our front porch are now in bloom.

These are just gorgeous every year!

they don't last long, but taking pictures of them allows us to enjoy them whenever we wish.

Happy Father's Day

Good morning,

Happy Fathers Day to My Honey!  Thanks for being you and all that you do for everyone!

The video today is of the Daddy Deer who strolled through our driveway early one morning this week.

The deer that passed through a few days earlier is a female deer.  We seem to be the pathway for the entire deer family.

Sweet!

Oops

 Good morning,

We never move the cars inside the gate when the pups are outside, but that didn't save Elsa's stuffy toy!

Daddy didn't see this critter when he pulled in.  When I got out of the car and saw this, I said, "Oh, I'm sorry...."

The stuffy is just fine and Elsa is carrying it around today.  She carries a toy outside every time she goes out and rarely brings them in.  That means they all get gathered up every few days, take a trip through the washer and dryer, then are returned to the toy box in the living room.

All is well in the stuffy toy box today....

Flowers from Friends

 Good morning,

They are so pretty and fill our home with a lovely scent.

Thank you, Sons of Norway friends for sending these lovely blossoms.  How very sweet of you!

Driveway Repairs

 Good morning,

We got tired of waiting for our neighbor whose contractors destroyed the side of our driveway with a stump grinder and other equipment more than two years ago to do the repairs he had promised so we had it done last Saturday.

We called a local contractor who quickly arrived with in a couple of hours, gave us a reasonable estimate and returned with a crew within two weeks to do a fabulous job of preparing the parking area and

 driveway, then

completing the repairs and sealing it all.

It's finished now.  Life goes on....

Pink Peonies

 Good morning,

These Pink Peonies bloom a week or so after our White Peonies which is nice because we have a longer time to enjoy them.

The White Peonies in a previous post were here when we moved in 44 years ago.  I transplanted clumps of them around the yard from the back garden and they are blooming yearly.

These Pink Peonies are a newer addition to the garden.  I would guess I added them 30 or so years ago.

Indoor Garden Blossoms

 Good morning,

Here come the African Violets once again in the window garden.

Soon those pretty purple flowers will cover the top of the pot.  That's a Christmas Cactus leaning over from the next pot.

The purple flowers are my inspiration for afghan color combinations.

Lovely.

Pink Rose Bud

 Good morning,

It is such a joy to walk outside in the garden every morning to see what is newly blooming.

This time the pink rose bud had appeared.

The beauty of most of these flowers is that I planted so many of them years ago and they continue to return to provide so much pleasure.

Happy Sunday,

Lois

Late Visitor

 Good morning,

I got an alarm in the middle of the night that there was activity in our driveway.

When I checked the cameras, I found this.

Very cool!

White Peonies

 Good morning,

The White Peonies have bloomed and are gorgeous this year!

I have to hurry to get pictures of these every year because even a gentle rain will knock these heavy blossoms to the ground.

The aroma is just amazingly delicious!
