Lamb Dinner ala Catherine

Good morning,

This is a special meal.  Catherine grilled lamb leg yesterday.  She made all the sides, too.  It's easy to see the cottage cheese (a favorite of mine) and under it is fresh tomato slices.  She grilled the potatoes that were tossed with garlic and rosemary (from my herb garden);  the brussel sprouts were also grilled with garlic and spices.

Not pictured is the corn on the cob that we enjoyed.  Watermelon was available for dessert, but we had so much dinner that we decided to slice it later.

Thank you, Catherine.  It was delicious!

Love you,
Mom

Another Fungus

Good morning,

With all of the rain we continue to see very interesting fungus forming on our property.
For those people who study such things, this is a perfect summer.

Passing Through Slooooowly

Good morning,

This fellow was slowly moving across my back porch.
I stopped and took a few pictures before...
...moving him off the porch so no one would step on him.

Cute little guy....

Banana Bread

Good morning,

There were three large bananas sitting in the kitchen that were just screaming "banana bread" this morning.

I complied.

Garden Planning

Good morning,

I've finished all 80 squares for the next Flower Garden Afghan Blanket.
I've arranged them all and will "string" them on a piece of yarn, put them in a tote bag, then be able to remove one at a time in the correct order to crochet them together.  The border color will be a grassy green.

In a few days, I'll be able to photograph this one and list it in the shop.

I truly enjoy making these.  They are never boring as I work with all of the colors.

All the best,
Lois

Summer Solstice Party - Sons of Norway

Good morning,

Last Saturday we enjoyed the Summer Solstice Pool Party that is an annual event of our Sons of Norway Lodge.
That's Susie with her husband, Glenn, barely visible behind her.  They are our hosts every year at their lovely home.
In this shot you can see just some of the food that we enjoyed.  It's quite an elaborate pot luck of Norwegian and American foods each year.
And, of course, here's my personal Viking, Kjell.  Lookin' good, Honey!

Catching Elusive Rays

Good morning,

Sunshine is so rare here that the girls immediately run out to catch rays whenever it appears even for a few minutes.

Starting at the top of the image are:  Penny (age 14.5 years), Elsa (5.5 months), and Wendy (5 years.).

Such pretty girls!

More Orchid Blossoms

Good morning,

More blossoms are opening on my resurrected orchid.  This is the one that was brought home dead by my granddaughter more than three years ago.  She thought the pot was pretty so bought it for the pot.

How do you like it now!

Overcast Skies and Rain Continue

Good morning,

We still have overcast skies and rain here most of the time.

I snapped this picture a few days ago as we were crossing the Ohio River from Kentucky to Ohio after having lunch with friends from Louisville.

The Ohio River is still rising....   :(

Warming Relationship

Good morning,

When Elsa (right) first arrived here in March, Penny (left) ignored her as much as possible and kept looking at me as if to say, "When is she going back?"

Through three months she has been here, Elsa has worked hard to make friends with our other three dogs.  She has finally gotten through to Penny who will allow Elsa to share her bed.

Elsa and Penny are 14 years apart in age and are Great Great Great Aunt and Niece.

It is so sweet to see them getting along well.

Trial Secretary and Her Assistant

Good morning,

Catherine sent me this picture via text last weekend when she was busy as Trial Secretary for the three day Agility Trial at our Queen City Dog Training Club.  That's Wendy at her side making sure she does everything right while recording all the data for the dogs in competition.

What a team!

Wednesday Dinner ala Catherine

Good evening,

Almost every Wednesday evening our son and grandson join us for dinner.  Our son brings food every other week and we provide the food the other nights.

Last week daughter/auntie Catherine prepared a variety of goodies so that we all had something that we liked.  Above is a soft taco...
...and some spanish rice.
Flank steak is everyone's favorite...
...and the grilled cauliflower was fantastic.

There were several other dishes that my camera missed, but our forks didn't miss it!
This almost looks like an image of the moon's surface, but it's Catherine's corn casserole.

It was all so good!

Thank you, Catherine!

Love you,
Mom

What is that blue stuff?

Good morning,

Some blue stuff appeared over our back yard today!  Oh, I remember, it's sky!

We've had so much rain that we almost forgot about blue sky.

That huge tree is in the back corner of our property.

Happy Spring.  I hope you're getting just the right amount of rain - not too much, not too little.

Blond Beauty on the Lounge Chair

Good morning,

Here's Elsa on her patio lounge "chair" again.  She's growing so fast and is so much bigger than the last time I took her picture here.
Elsa is now five months old and 40 pounds, about two thirds of her adult weight.  She has lost the little puppy look and is now looking more grown up.

When fully grown, her lounge chair will still be quite comfy.

Happy Father's Day and My Honey's Most Recent Project

Good morning,

Happy Father's Day to all the great men out there!

Today's image is of the latest art created by the Dad who lives here.  Kjell made this kinetic art featuring flying seagulls.  It's hanging in our recreation room.

Click here to see it in motion.  What an artist!

He's working on another to be available in the shop.

Happy Father's Day, Sweetheart!

Patio Container Garden

Good morning,

Our tomato plant is producing beautiful fruits!  We'll soon have yummy red ripe tomatoes from the vine on our patio.
We have a number of herbs, too.  This spearmint looks ready for harvest for tea, lemonade, and perhaps some mint juleps, too!

Ah, yes, it is good to be retired and home!

Current Project: Next Flower Afghan Blanket

Good morning,

This is eye candy for me.  ;)  I just love yarn (who'd have known?) and arranging colors for projects.

The last Flower Garden Afghan Blanket with a Garden Green Border sold recently so it's time to make another to put into the shop.  This new blanket will have a similar color theme and grassy green border.
I've started making the flowers in a variety of colors...
...and, as soon as I have 80 of them, will put them together for another Large Afghan Blanket.  This is the perfect size for couch, bed, den, dorm room, hospice, just anywhere you want a happy splash of color.

This color arrangement sells quickly so if you're interested in purchasing ($155), let me know and I'll prepare a reserved listing for you now before it's available to the public.  Reserved listings require prepayment.

There are several other afghan blankets in a variety of sizes, styles, and prices in the shop ready to ship now.  Click here and scroll down to take a look.

What are you making, baking, and growing today?

All the best,
Lois

Grav Lax (Again!)

Good morning,

Kjell has been at it again making Grav Lax.  It's raw salmon cured for three days in sugar, salt, cognac and flavored with dill and pepper.

I made the scrambled eggs and grav lax sauce.  It was all served on sliced french bread.

Oh, my this was good!

Zeke's Wheels

Good morning,

Isn't this darling!

Catherine and I attended a baby shower for the first GREAT grand child of a dear friend of ours.  This precious vehicle is the brainchild and artistic product of the grandmother of the baby.
Yes, we know it'll be a boy so he already has a name and so many darling boy clothes and toys!

How fun!

Mr. Red

Good morning,

While sitting outsidewhile the dogs roamed their area of the back yard, this pretty fellow stopped by to say hello.  I didn't zoom to show he's pretty close to us.  The presence of the dogs didn't concern Mr. Red at all, but he didn't like the clicking sound of my camera.
Whoops!  There he goes!

Beautiful!
