Husoey Church

Good morning,

The last time we visited Norway and this old church in Toensberg on the Island of Husoey, was in 2002.
Nothing has changed since then except for some new tombstones in the graveyard.
What a beautiful, peaceful place.
We were blessed by the wonderful weather, too, so that we could capture pictures of our visit to save and enjoy later.
We walked all the way through the grave yard.  Notice the watering cans hanging on the rack on the left.  Those are here for friends and relative to water flowers they have planted in the designated space on each grave.

We found many, many relatives and friends.
Notice the "MaskinsJeff" on this stone.  It means Chief Engineer.  Many Chief Engineers and Captains are buried here.  Many families were entirely made up of mariners.

 This is Uncle's grave.
And, so many friends.  The bottom line on many of the stones, "Hvil i fred" translates to "Rest in Peace."

What a beautiful place.

All the best,
Lois
