Platform at Sea

Good morning,

This is another picture through the window of our suite.  We have been on this itinerary aboard Freedom of the Seas in the Caribbean for quite some time and I haven't seen this platform before.  Perhaps our course is a little different this time.

While sailing aboard Splendour of the Seas in the Gulf of Mexico about ten years ago we often saw many platforms, but they are more scarce out here in the Caribbean.

There is always something new and different to see out here.

Best,
Lois

I'd sure hate to have to work on one of those things! Months on that thing...what in the world do they do to keep them from going nuts? The noise has to be continual - never any peace and quite. It must be weird to see them just sprout up in the middle of the ocean...debbie

i can't imagine the feeling of isolation working on one of those platforms.

They are a strange sight out in the ocean. I agree with the other comments. I can't even imagine working on one. What a challenge!

I've never seen an oil rig except in photos. I cannot imagine working on one. Looks like too tiny an "island."

I wouldn't want to be on one of those! Nice shot, though.
