A Spring Day in Eden Park

My husband and I spent an afternoon in Cincinnati's Eden Park where I captured these images with my Canon 50 D.
These Canada Geese stop in the park often on their way North in the Spring.
And, of course, the beautiful Mallards.
Almost all of them were in pairs.
These two young males spent plenty of time squabbling, making plenty of noise, and chasing each other around the lake trying to impress the girls.
A pleasant day at the lake.
This park is often the setting for wedding pictures.
All of the birds were so friendly.
It was as if they didn't notice the humans were nearby.
 An island in Eden.
 Over the bridge...
...and a view of the island from the other side.
 A beautiful day in Eden.

Eden Park is a big part of my young childhood memories. From the age of 1 to 7, we lived on Pike St., just down from the Taft Museum of Art.
Your photos are lovely, Lois!

Godag til deg også! Thank you for visiting my blog. I have spent some time now to read your blog and have enjoyed it very much. I first wondered if your family had come from Norway, but from what I read in your blog I believe it is your husband that comes from Norway. I enjoyed all your bread recipes! Right now I am on a diet to lose weight and only eat coarse, dark bread. But I will try some of them later. Lovely pictures from the park. And the spring flowers are beautiful, we have some flowers here now too. But like this it will not be before in May.
I have added me as a follower of your blog so I will sure come back :) Marit Johanne

Hi Wanda, I'll bet there was some time in our childhood when we were both at Eden Park, or at the Cincinnati Zoo, or at the Krohn Conservatory at the same time. We have lived about 2 miles from Eden Park across the street from Xavier University for 31 years. I grew up in Wyoming, Ohio. Small world.

Hei Marit Johanne, Yes, it is my husband who was born in Norway. A few years ago we left a ship in Copenhagen, rented a car and drove to our home in Tønsberg by driving past your town of Sansborg, to Moss, then took the ferry to Horton and down to Tønsberg. We had two homes at the time and have since sold our home in Norway. As I said in the paragraph above, it is truly a small world!

Di and Saskia, thanks for your kind words about the images. Eden Park was always a favorite of my father's, too, for taking pictures of my two brothers and me as we were growing up so I have been going there for as long as I can remember. It is truly a lovely place.

Hugs to all and thanks for stopping by,

Lois
