The Cupcake Cupboard Cupcake Decorating

Good morning,

Is that cute or what!  That's a cupcake decorated at The Cupcake Cupboard aboard Freedom of the Seas.

No, that's not a hamburger and fries.  That's all made out of cake and icing.  What fun!

The staff of The Cupcake Cupboard were setting up for another class as I walked by.  You don't have to take the class to purchase cupcakes here, but taking the class seems to be the best part.

Just next door to The Cupcake Cupboard is Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream. 

Ah, my day is complete.

Coffee Chat With The Officers - And Gloria

Good morning,

On the last sea day of each cruise aboard Freedom of the Seas an event called Coffee with the Officers is held.  Many of the officers, including the most senior, enjoy a cup of coffee at the Cafe Promenade and chat with guests who may have questions or just want to meet them.

This time the Coffee Chat was also attended by a famous character, Gloria, from the film Madagascar.  What fun!  I am always tickled to see that more adults want have a picture taken with these famous characters than children.

Sorry I wasn't able to climb over a rail quickly enough to get a closer picture, but I'm glad I got this one.

A Shipment of Boulders

Good morning,

Here's something a little different.  I took this image through the window of our suite. 

This is a load of boulders arriving via ship at the commercial port in St. Maarten, Dutch West Indies.  There are improvements underway at the port and I believe these boulders are going to be used along the shore line.  I missed seeing them unloaded.

It's very interesting out here!

Captain's Corner

Good morning,

One of the events aboard Freedom of the Seas is the Captain's Corner.  Actually, it is more than just the captain.  Above left to right are: Captain, Staff Captain, Chief Engineer, and Human Resources Manager.

And, now the man pictured in the middle with the microphone has appeared.  Yes, he was late so he climbed over the rail behind the row of chairs.  He explained he was late because he is from Australia and was stuck in traffic.  Only part of that is true.  ;)

The Captain's Corner question and answer events with the Executive Committee provide my comedy half hour of the week.  ;)  The officers do an excellent job of answering questions, but also have proven they could successfully do standup comedy in retirement.

Preparing for the Really Big Ships - Dredging Port Canaveral

Good morning,

As we sailed out of Port Canaveral aboard Freedom of the Seas we passed this huge dredging operation just outside the port channel.  They even have their own helipad.

In the next year very large Royal Caribbean ships will visit this port and the preparations have begun.

It's fascinating to watch the development of Port Canaveral.

A Couple of Bucks in the Neighborhood

Good morning,

Our daughter sent us this image from home.

Catherine stopped her car and took this picture with her camera phone about a half block from our home.

We have lived in the city in the same home since 1979.  It is only in the last five years or so that we have started seeing deer in the neighborhood.

Of course, our three Labrador Retrievers think they are here to be playmates.  ;)
