We ate our picnic dinner inside because we don't like to share with the bugs.

Kjell and I enjoyed a late lunch at deSha's with daughter, Catherine, and son, Don, this week. Yes, that's my red pony tail in the image. We were waiting outside until the area overlooking the lake opened for early dinner at 4 PM.

We take turns making meals around here. Pictured is Kjell's Fish Balls in White Sauce. It's a Norwegian treat flavored with nutmeg.
He served it with potatoes and beans with a little "American Sauce" (ketchup) on the side.
It was very good!

Happy Birthday, USA!
Well, well, well, the critters are still here. I have to get moth balls to spread around the front porch and they won't like it here any more.
From a distance, these guys are pretty cute, but I wouldn't want our dogs to meet them. Our pups don't have access to the front yard where the ground hogs are seen here through our french doors in the living room, but they certainly do see them and tell them how they feel about them being here. Shortly after I took this picture, Wendy and Elsa gave them a very loud send-off.
Although they run from humans and other critters, Ground Hogs can do a great deal of damage to foundations and walls with their extensive burrows. These guys and gals will have to go.

It figures we finally got rain, lots of rain! Today was the day the pups went to our friend Erica's to swim in her pool and play with her pups.
Erik, our fourteen year old, can't be seen in the picture, but he's on the other side of the kennels with Wendy, Lily, and Elsa.
Our pups travel in kennels for everyone's safety. In the highly unlikely event of an emergency (airline wording) the kennels keep the pups contained. If there were an accident, we wouldn't want the pups running loose on the highway.
They are home now after three hours of fun, but they are soaking wet. They will sleep well this afternoon! Photo credit goes to our daughter, Catherine.

Around here what's for lunch is often a mystery until we open the fridge to see what's available. Do you do that at your house?
I knew I wanted something light in this warm weather.... Hmmm....
This was my luncheon creation yesterday: blue cheese, sliced hard boiled egg, fresh spinach leaves, on my home made bread.
This was a winner!
