Work in Process This Week - Cotton Dish Cloths

 Good morning,

I recently made a set of extra large, double thick pot holders for the shop.

Now I'm working on a variety of different stitches to make dish cloths that are also marvelous wash cloths.  There are plenty of patterns available to make these, but I enjoy making up my own patterns.  I like lots of texture and a generous size.

It's fun to have these little projects between the big projects.  I just may keep these dish/wash cloths for myself.  :)

What are you making, baking, growing this week?

Labor Day - United States of America

 Good morning,

It's Labor Day in the United States of America.  We celebrate our labor force and all that they do to enrich our country, regardless of what sort of work each person does.

The important part is that they are working and adding to the society and economy of this great country.

So, to our working Americans, today is your day to take the time and find a place to sit back, relax, and accept our thanks!

This is also the unofficial last holiday of summer to enjoy cookouts and family gatherings as we all remember those who go to work every day to make our country strong.

 All the best,

Lois

Elsa Got Mail!

 Good morning,

Elsa continues to amaze us!

She earned two new titles by completing all of the requirements on the same day at the same show.

We are so proud of Elsa and her trainer/our daughter, Catherine!

Way to go Team Elsa!

Love you both,

Very Proud Mom and Dad

Fall Blossoms

 Good morning,

At the beginning of summer I came across some seed packets in my desk.  They were forgotten and several  years old, but I had to give them a chance.  I filled a large patio pot of soil and spread the seeds on top.

These images are of just a few of the rewards!  I would have taken more images, but the pot is on the edge of a wall to the basement stairs and I wasn't so sure of my step to take more.

I'm aware seeds can survive for thousands of years in pyramids, so gave these a chance after a much shorter time in my desk drawer.  They've brought us great beauty!

 All the best,

Lois

Needlework and Wood Working Update - September, 2021

 Good morning,

It's already time for the monthly Needlework and Wood Working Update of all of the items we've made this month.

As I write this post, our Labor Day Sale is happening in the shop.  It is the largest sale we've ever had celebrating our designation as an Etsy Star Seller for the month of September.  The shop, Evensens Productions, is here.  Be sure to take a look in the "On Sale" section of the shop for specials while they last.

My Honey went back to his Norwegian roots for the piece in the image above titled Norse God Odin - Odin's Eye Story.  It is carved in thick, heavy Walnut Wood.  It's even more stunning in person.  $168.  More information and images are here.

You won't find this one in the shop.  Kjell has wanted to make a wood guitar for a long time and here it is.  He designed and carved it to his own liking.  Perfect!  He never ceases to amaze me with his talent!  He can play it, too.  :)

This lovely afghan blanket is new in the shop this month.  The design and colors came out just so nicely.  $165.  More images and information here.

This is a larger version of a blanket I made recently and sold very quickly.  This one is extra wide at five feet by five feet.  I love the way these colors and yarns "work" together!  $135.    More here.

This Jewel Tones Neck Scarf is extremely soft and comfy.  It will brighten up any outfit on a winter day.  $35.  Only one available.

I've added two more cloche hats this month...

to keep that section of the shop stocked.  We have quite a variety of hats here starting at $8.

I've also restocked and...

...added to the Toilet Tissue Toppers available in the shop.

These dress up the toilet roll and make a great gift bag for a roll of tissue (very valuable in the last couple of years!) to take to your host for a holiday dinner.  Trust me, this gift will bring all smiles.

We have colors for all occasions and bathroom colors.

Check out all of the colors available here.  $8.

I haven't made these for awhile. These cotton coasters are great for your desk or table as well as the drink holder for your car.  I especially like having them in the car.  The way they are made the edges will lay flat or bend up to cradle your drink in most sizes of car drink holders.  They are 100% cotton so are machine wash and dry.

The Coasters are available in sets of six in a variety of colors.

$10 set of six.

See colors available here.

And, finally for this month...

...as people are traveling again, our Luggage Identifiers are selling out.

$5. for a set of 6.  These are perfect as a retirement or bon voyage gift as well as for yourself.  They have been extremely helpful to us when we travel.  Check out the colors available here.

Thank you, once again, for your encouragement, likes, favorites, shares, and purchases, too.  Our little shop has been such a fun project and blessing to us.  What started out as a hobby more than ten years ago has turned into our retirement business.

And, don't forget to come over to see the shop and what's available during our Labor Day Sale!

All the very best,

Lois

Daddy's Little Helpers

 Good morning,

Kjell took these images yesterday as he was making fried salmon with...

 ...his three assistants.

They all make such a great team!

The salmon was delicious, too.

Happy September!

Cornflower Design Corning Ware

 Good morning,

Do you remember or are you still using this corning ware?

I thought about it when I got some out last night to heat up dinner.

I know these pieces and several more that match are about 55 years old.

I have my own and my Mom's as well as a few more pieces we've picked up along the way.  I've always loved Corning Ware.

Do you still have some Cornflower Corning Ware?  I just looked it up on various sites and the value is through the roof!  Wow!  Well, I'll  just keep using mine.

All the best,

Lois
