Shopping - Havensight Mall - St. Thomas, U.S.V.I.

Good morning,

We are still enjoying St. Thomas, U.S.V.I.  Today we didn't take one of those colorful taxis into downtown from the port, but will do so another time here soon.
When we come ashore from the ship, I love seeing all of the gorgeous flowers.  We don't have these in our garden in Ohio.  ;)
The flower basket I featured here a few months ago has been replanted with a different variety of plants.  Very pretty!
This is a rather large indoor mall.  We didn't stop in this time.
We passed by this colorful shop.  So many pretty things to buy!
My Honey and I saw some friends.  I get a kick out of these pictures.  These guys are taking pictures of each other taking pictures of each other taking pictures....
And, then it was back to the "mother ship" and very welcome air conditioning!

Enjoy,
Lois

Find It Fun

Good morning,

Do you remember those books of pictures we had when we were kids where you searched for items hiding in the picture?  That's exactly what this picture I took in St. Thomas, U.S.V.I., brings to mind.

Can you find Freedom of the Seas in this picture?

Of course, we can all find that one.  What seems so amazing is how big it appears over the buildings while docked several blocks away.

Enjoy,
Lois

Return to Mojo's St.Thomas, U.S.V.I.

Good morning,

Yep, we are back at MoJo's in St. Thomas, U.S.V.I.
Whenever we can, we stop in here for chicken legs.
They didn't have the platter today - they were out of the potato salad and cole slaw so we just had the legs.  Oops, I did it again!  When the chicken legs were served, I ate them instead of taking a picture of them.
I'll try to make up for it by taking a picture of the man outside grilling more chicken legs.  We can smell these grilling when we get off the ship so it's easy to follow our noses to get here!  Yum!
If you're in St. Thomas, U.S.V.I....
...look for MoJo's conveniently located in the port parking lot.

Dockside in St. Thomas, U.S.V.I.

Good morning,

Standing on the dockside next to Freedom of the Seas allows you to feel just how big this ship is!
Waiting for a few minutes for someone to join me allows me to see how many pass by so quickly to leave the ship, gather for tours, and return to the ship.
The ship's security handles the crowds very efficiently.
I would venture to say this tour is on the way to the beach.
What a ship!  Isn't it amazing what humans can build!

All the best,

 Lois

Coco Cay, Bahamas

Good morning,

That little island out there is Coco Cay, Bahamas, one of Royal Caribbean's private island destinations that we have visited many times.  As tiny as the island appears from here, there are a tremendous number of different activities and events to enjoy.
The tender boat transports guests back and forth from Freedom of the Seas and the island for beach fun and lunch.
I just love how pretty the para sails look up there in the sky.  :)
Soon Daughter Catherine and Aunt Carol will be joining us.  I'll go ashore with them in Coco Cay so will have more pictures of many of the activities that can be enjoyed ashore.  Catherine loves to snorkel so we will spend some time at the beach and will also take a walking tour of the island.  Stay tuned!

All the best,
Lois

Port Canaveral

Good morning,

Today's images were taken from Deck 4, Freedom of the Seas, while I was waiting to leave the ship to go through U.S. Immigration in Port Canaveral.
Those buses out there are waiting to transport guests to the airport or elsewhere.  Soon they will return with other guests for the next cruise.
We can also see the large trucks arriving to bring supplies for the next cruise.
Near the top of the above image you can see a portion of the parking lot for cruise guests.  There is also a large garage at the port so there is plenty of parking space for those who drive.
The ship is stocked for the week in Port Canaveral so there is a great deal of activity getting supplies for more than 5,000 people on board in just a few hours.

I'll be going off of the ship to go through Immigration, then will shop for an hour or two for our own supplies (shampoo, toothpaste, etc.) before returning for the next cruise.  It's so convenient to have our car at the port.

And so another week at sea ends and then begins in just a couple of hours.

 All the best,
Lois

Sunset at Sea

Good morning,

Today's images demonstrate the beautiful changes that occur during the same sunset.  It's such fun to stand with a camera in hand to capture what Mother Nature displays.
Sunsets at sea provide an even greater view of the sky than most sunsets viewed on land.  Off in the distance, very faintly visible, is the shoreline of Miami, Florida.  We are not going there, though, we are just passing by on our way to Port Canaveral.
Clouds moving across the sunset provided changing designs in the sky and reflections on the sea.
A cargo ship passed...
 ...providing a striking silhouette.

My Honey and I were not along standing on the deck photographing the sunset.
And, finally, here is the last shot before the sun sank below the horizon.

Enjoy,
Lois
