Sunset on the Ohio River - Part 3 of 3

Good morning,

Today we have the final chapter in the dinner cruise on the Ohio River aboard the Belle of CincinnatiPart 1 and Part 2 were published yesterday and the day before.

The above image frames the Great American Ball Park, home of the Cincinnati Reds, and the showboat Majestic below the bridge and above the support for Belle's forward gangway.

In the comments in response to the lovely people who wrote about Part 1, I gave a little history about this area so I'll share the same here for those who may have missed it.  For those who aren't aware of exactly where these images were taken, this is where Eliza of Uncle Tom's Cabin crossed the Ohio River to freedom. There was no Army Corps of Engineers to construct dams to raise the river level then so the Ohio was a much lower/smaller river. The family home (now museum) of author Harriet Beecher Stowe is just blocks from our home.
On the Kentucky side is the mouth of the Licking River where it empties into the Ohio River.
The light was changing rapidly as the sun was setting.

Ahead shrouded in canvas for repairs and maintenance is the John D. Roebling Suspension Bridge spanning the Ohio River between Ohio and Kentucky.
We moved just beneath the I-75 Brent Spence Bridge and began our slow turn back to our terminal.
This gave us a different view of downtown Cincinnati as the sky darkened by the moment.
If the Roebling Bridge looks familiar, there is a good reason for it.  This was Roebling's prototype for New York's Brooklyn Bridge.
As our riverboat continues to slowly move toward its final destination on the Kentucky side, we passed beautifully illuminated Cincinnati.
We are now closer to the Roebling Suspension bridge.  The canvas almost appears to be a sail as it blows in the gentle breeze.
Here is the view of the Great American Ball Park from down river.
We passed under the Roebling Bridge one last time...
...and took one last picture as Belle of Cincinnati tied up for the evening and we left with our favorite souvenirs, these images.

I hope you've enjoyed our riverboat dinner cruise with us.

Very best,
Lois

I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, but haven't been back for years. The views from the river reminded me a bit of home!!
