Not a Diet Salad

 Good morning,

This was so good!  I tell myself it is healthy to eat salads and it certainly is, but this was definitely not a diet salad.

This is a Catherine Creation of lettuce, bacon, cheese, more cheese, cheese dressing, tomatoes, egg, and onion.  It was fabulous!

I'll diet tomorrow.

Octopus in the Wood Workshop!

 Good morning,

We have an octopus in My Honey's wood workshop!  Actually, he has configured quite a complex vacuum system to collect sawdust from his various machines.

It gets noisy down there when this thing and the other machines are running!

It is fun to be retired.

King Erik

 Good morning,

I took this picture of Erik as he sat on top of me to wake me up yesterday morning.

Until our Penny passed last month, she was known as Queen of the Canines around here.  Now Erik has the title of King of the Canines.  Although he still misses Penny, he seems to like his new status.

He's a very handsome guy, but also very heavy when he decides to sit on me!

This Week It is Topher

 Good morning,

Last week Trevor came to visit, yesterday it was his litter brother, Topher.  Topher stopped long enough for me to get a picture of his pretty face.

Topher fits right in with our pups and they all made friends very quickly a week or so ago when Topher came home to live with our friend Erica.

Topher wants to be a lap dog, too.  ;)

Catherine took Topher to her office so he could meet lots of people and learn about different environments.  It's all part of his socialization to meet new people and go new places.

What a cutie!

Enjoy,

Lois

Balancing Act

 Good morning,

I sat down in my Lazy Boy recliner and put my feet up when I suddenly got TWO Yellow Labs on my footrest.  Generally, only one of them has difficulty staying balanced there.

This lasted for all of ten minutes until Elsa (right) got down.  It's tricky to balance on the footrest, but they are both determined to do it whenever they can.

So Precious!

Morning Coffee in the Rec Room

 Good morning,

Daddy and I had morning coffee in the recreation room while we chatted about what he planned to make for the shop.  I took these images a few days ago.

Catherine stopped in to say goodbye on her way out the door to work and, of course, the pups were there, too.

You can't do much without the pups wanting to know what is happening...

This whole series of the pups wanting to be lap dogs while Cath was sitting on a high chair at the table is just so darling.

This is definitely an inspection to see if there is anything edible on this table.  That's Wendy above...
...and now Elsa's turn.
We see you, Catherine.  ;)

Happy Sunday!

Help With All That Shrimp

Good morning,

This is a follow-up to yesterday's shrimp party post.  For lunch the day after the shrimp party, we made up plates of yummy shrimp, this time with capers added, in the kitchen and headed to the living room to enjoy it while watching TV.

As soon as we sat down,

we had LOTS of help!
Our pups are very patient while we eat...

but they do keep a sharp eye on our progress.

With those eyes, it appears they need to be recharged, don't they!

Yes, of course, we shared with them.

Birthday Shrimp Party

 Good morning,

We had a great family birthday party for Catherine.  That cake was the dessert, of course, but the candles weren't lit and blown out in this Covid-19 year.  They do look very nice, don't they - and the cake was delicious!

Catherine's meal choice for her birthday was a shrimp party.  This is similar to the crew shrimp parties that we had on board, especially during crossings of the Atlantic Ocean.

In addition to cold shrimp, bread, mayonnaise, and cocktail sauce, we added cole slaw to have something that approximated a salad.  ;)
The shrimp was yummy as was the rest of the meal, but the best of all was the company.

Oh, and there was plenty of shrimp left for lunch tomorrow!

Happy birthday, again, Catherine.

Trevor Comes to Visit

 Good morning,

This darling little Brittany puppy came to visit us early one morning when it was still dark outside.  He's a new baby in our friend Erica's family and is here to spend the day with Catherine at her office to enjoy some socialization with a variety of people.

Elsa looks so big next to Trevor!

This little man was so busy sniffing the wet leaves on our rain-soaked patio that I couldn't get a picture of his face.
Hi moves pretty fast, too.  In the image above, though, he's sitting on my feet.
I'm sure I'll have more pictures of him soon and we'll be able to see his face.

He sure is a cutie!  His litter brother, Topher, will also be visiting us.

Puppies!  Such fun!

A Sweet Memorial

 Good morning,

A friend of ours at our dog club, Queen City Dog Training Club, carved this garden rock in memory of our sweet Penny.

Of course, it will become a treasured part of our garden.

Thank you so very much.

Happy Birthday, Catherine!

Happy Birthday, Catherine!

Today's is our one and only daughter's birthday!  The image above was taken while she was on board with us while daddy was working at sea.

Over more than 20 years we celebrated many, many of Catherine's birthdays at sea.
Here we are in the dining room aboard Freedom of the Seas.  Aunt Carol is here, too...
...as well as our friends Martha and Russell.  Of course, Daddy is hosting the Captain's table.
As well as Aunt Carol, our friends Chris and Patty celebrated with us.  This is known as the "Cincinnati Gang."
This was taken one time on board when Catherine brought her witch hat so she could pass out Halloween candy to the delight of many of the children on board. Of course, she asked parents first if their children could have the candy.
Here's another time the Cincinnati Gang was on board.
Daddy hosted dinners in various restaurants on board.  This time I'm in the picture, but usually,

I'm behind the camera.

This is the day Daddy retired in 2016 after 31 years with Royal Caribbean and 50 years at sea.  This is the All Crew presentation on stage in the main theater with Captain Toni (Catherine gave him the t-shirt) on the left and the entire Cincinnati Gang here to celebrate.  I provided the "I'm Retired" t-shirt for Kjell.

And, here's a picture of Daddy with his entire Marine Engineering Department.  It was so much fun for all of us to be here.  Thanks to Captain Toni and Hotel Director Xavier for making the retirement week so special.

Catherine has been Treasurer of our AKC Queen City Dog Training Club for many years now.  Of course, our pups love to go with her for classes and competitions.

The pups mainly compete in dock diving,
and agility competitions.  They have all earned ribbons and titles with Catherine's guidance.

At home, Catherine can be found in the kitchen...
making fabulous meals for all of us.
Of course, she has plenty of helpers.
Catherine is in charge of Christmas decorations.
And, together we put together client gift baskets every year for her CPA practice.

And always has time for the pups.

We know who is under there!

Happy Birthday, Catherine!

We all love you!
