On the Road Again - Part 2 of 2

Good morning,

I am up and on the road again after less sleep than I would have liked to have had after sharing a hotel with a whole lot of kids the night before (see yesterday's post.)

I'm fine, though.  Those things happen.  Life wouldn't be fun if everything was always perfect, right?
As soon as I had that first cup of coffee, I was just happy to have lovely weather while driving through Southern Georgia.  I thought of the good night's sleep I would have tonight.  I said goodbye to deciduous trees for awhile.
I stopped at this Georgia rest stop and after stretching my legs, got out our car baby computer to log on and check my email.  Yes, of course, I can do that on my phone, but aren't all these gadgets fun?

Then it was on the road again.
Traffic got a little crowded and even at a dead stop here and there...
...then back to full speed again.  In Lake Park, Georgia, I stopped again at the Farm House Restaurant for lunch.  It's a regular stop when going both North and South.
Before I knew it I was in Florida...
...on the bypass around Jacksonville.
And, then, off in the distance I saw what looked like a strange cloud...
...that looked more serious as I got closer...
...and darker so that I could see it was smoke.  I never found out what it was, but the plume of smoke was huge.

I was tired.  I was ready for a good night's sleep.  Soon I checked into the Melbourne, Florida, Hampton Inn.  I chatted with the two very friendly ladies at the front desk as I was checking in when they asked how long I had been driving.

I told them I was coming in from Atlanta.  I laughed as I told them I was looking forward to a good night's sleep.  I said I had shared the Hampton Inn there with about 80 (it sounded like many more, but who knows - there were 4 to a room in 20 rooms) American Little League players from Georgia.

The two ladies at the desk looked at me as if I had just turned purple, or perhaps they turned purple.   There was a long uncomfortable pause.  Then one of them dared to speak:  "We have the American Little League players from Florida here tonight."  The stadium is very close just down the road.

"I see, " I said.  I wasn't so sure I wanted to see, but I saw.

Whodathunkit?  I mean, how could I manage to get both Georgia and Florida American Little League players in Hampton Inns on consecutive nights?  Should I play the lottery again?  Is this my week?

But, I learned something this evening that restores my faith in today's kids and parents.

Now I can tell you the difference between Georgia American Little League players and Florida American Little League players.  Since I came back from dinner and closed my door, I haven't heard a peep out of those Florida kids.  I saw some of them earlier in the halls and in the pool.  They were being kids; they were happy the way kids are happy.  They laughed and played.  Their parents were with them in the halls and at the pool.  The kids were polite and so were their parents.  They didn't scream, shout, or run around uncontrolled.
So, here I sit at my laptop at the Hampton Inn in Melbourne, Florida, tonight.  It's quiet here.  I'm going to bed early.  Tomorrow I will see My Honey.  I am happy.

I wish those young ball players in Florida AND Georgia all the best for tomorrow's games.

Good night,
Lois

So glad that you will have had a good nights sleep! We wouldn't want you driving around sleep deprived! It's kind of funny Lois, My husband was in Georgia and then Florida too. I believe he's in Kentucky now or Illinois, oh whatever, I can't keep track anymore! Have fun!!

Good morning,

Yes, that was some trip to Florida this time. ;) I didn't get a chance to buy those lottery tickets, but will figure out if I can get them in Port Canaveral somewhere on Sunday.

Yes, Beatrice, that sure was me who won a little lottery money a month or so ago. That was so nice. I'm still waiting for the BIG one! ;)

Thank you, everyone, so much for stopping by. It is so much fun knowing you.

Very best,
Lois
