The Last Key West Sunset and Goodbye Majesty

Good morning,

Above is the last Key West sunset image I will capture with my camera for awhile.  This image was taken through the double glass of our stateroom window.  It was time to pack up and...
...leave Majesty of the Seas for the last time at least for now.  The above image of Majesty was taken as we were driving across the causeway to Miami from Dodge Island where the cruise ship terminal is located.  In the foreground is the rail beside the highway, to the center right beyond the rail you can see the pointed roof of the terminal, in the center is the top floor of the parking garage, and to the left is the curved cover over the area where ship supplies are unloaded from trucks to be loaded on the ship.  Goodbye sweet Majesty.  We will return to sea in a few weeks, but to a different ship.
We drove North on I-95 past Daytona Beach and spent the first night at Palm Coast.
The following morning we were up early and had a beautiful view of Jacksonville, Florida, from the highway.
Ah, beautiful Georgia!  We were back to green trees other than palm trees.
We were certainly in the Heart of Dixie!  This is a very large Confederate flag, just before Atlanta, Georgia.
And, just down the road was this huge USA flag.  Ah, yes, we are home in the USA.

We were fortunate to have perfect weather for our road trip.  Tomorrow we will continue North.

It's exciting to be on land again and going home.

Best,
Lois

Thanks for the onboard memories, Lois. Grenville and I will be looking forward to the next one in a few weeks. Where will this one take you? We're not travelling much in the summer because of the garden and other projects, but there will always be some short weekend trips. The longer ones will wait until the fall months after harvest. Looking forward to reading you "at home" posts in the coming weeks.

I'ved flown into Key West as a pilot. That is one SHORT runway, I think a boat would be better.

Sounds wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing. B.

Good morning, everyone,

Yes, this was a very lovely time on board Majesty. My favorite souvenirs are taking pictures and being on a ship is a great place for that. In addition to all of the ship activities, every morning you wake up in a different port.

Going home is great, too, and I will be up to my old tricks of baking bread and gardening. :)

In answer to those who asked where we will be next, after a month at home, we are scheduled to go on board Freedom of the Seas in Port Canaveral the third week of July. Majesty is 70,000 tons; Freedom is 160,000 tons and has a more extensive itinerary. I'll take my cameras. :))

A very warm welcome to Brigid who has a great blog, Home on the Range. I have been lurking on her blog for awhile since Sherry Bennett of Sherry's Place sent me over there. Both of those blogs can be found on my blog list and are worth visiting.

Thank you, everyone, for stopping by.

Very best,
Lois
