Bluegrass to Buckeyes

Good morning,

Here we are entering the Bluegrass State on the last leg of our road trip from the Port of Miami to Cincinnati, Ohio.
Kentucky is another gorgeous place to visit.  We are literally in the beautiful rolling hills of Kentucky.
Why is it that people won't move over into the right lane when an emergency vehicle needs to pass?  This ambulance with lights flashing and siren screaming came up behind three different cars that refused to move over until the last minute.  Duh!
This is the view from the highway of the Kentucky Horse Park near Lexington, Kentucky.  If you are in the area, don't miss it!  Take the kids and enjoy the day learning about horses, riding them, visiting the museum, and, of course, taking pictures.
Ah, the goal is in sight!  Here we are still in Kentucky descending from the last hills into the Ohio River Valley.  That's Cincinnati, Ohio, across the river.
We followed that white truck toward the I-75 Brent Spence Bridge over the Ohio River and saw a horse who thinks he's a dog with his head out of the window of the left side of the truck.  He kept moving his head in and out of the truck.
Or, maybe he was like a little kid excited about where he was going?  Are we there yet?
Here is the mighty Ohio River a bit higher than normal and very muddy from recent rains.
Here's another view of downtown Cincinnati.
Our route home takes us past Krohn Conservatory on Victory Parkway.  The butterfly display is back!    We go to Krohn Conservatory often and just love the butterfly display.  Click here for some images I took of the Butterfly Display a few years ago.
About four minutes later look who greeted us at home!  They weren't this calm when we came in.  It took a couple of hours for them to look like this.

Our wonderful daughter helped us unload the car and made us a home made dinner.  Then we collapsed to unpack suitcases, set up computer files, take showers, then get a good night's sleep at home in the Buckeye State.

There's no place like home!  I hope you've enjoyed our road trip getting here.

Very best,
Lois

HI Lois! Welcome back home and thank you for sharing this wonderful trip with us.
I especially loved the photos of the horse sticking it's head out of the trailer! :)
I just hope he didn't end up with an eye infection!

I never was in that part of your beautiful country, at the times I got to visit the US I "only" got to see the western states.
:)
Who knows, maybe I get the chance to travel some more in a few years, I'd love that.

Welcome back! So much scenery that I've never been through. Glad your doggies survived without you but they may be lap dogs for awhile telling you not to go off again!

Welcome home, Lois and hubby - just in time for a hopefully relaxing Father's Day. Enjoyed the car trip from Miami and glad you had such great weather to both drive and take photos to post. Travelling is fun but coming home is comforting!
