Life Boat Drill - Freedom of the Seas

Good morning,

While having lunch in the Windjammer aboard Freedom of the Seas we had a show of the yellow pods that are the ship's life boats.

All of these images were taken through the windows of the Windjammer.
This is the view of the boats further away from the ship.  Many have returned since storms chased most of the boats to safer ports some weeks ago.
Our view from Deck 11 was spectacular as the bright yellow "pods" spread out on the water below.

These drills are rehearsed often to be sure all crew are prepared for any emergency.
What a lovely show to watch while having lunch in the Windjammer while we were tied up in St. Thomas, U.S.V.I.

All the best,
Lois

I wonder how many people each pod can hold and how many pods that there are?

Glad to see the crew practicing the drills.

Good morning,

Diana, there are 30 life boats and many more life rafts. In all there are more seats than there are people on board. :) Not to worry.

Yes, Yogi, constant drills!

Thanks for stopping by.

All the best,
Lois

Love that blue water! It is a great thing that they are practicing :-) In the very unlikely event of an emergency ,the crew will be ready. St. Thomas looks lovely! We did a kayak tour there a few years ago. With my son and I in the same kayak, we did whatever we could to avoid those mangroves. Unfortunately it seemed like there were large magnets in them!

I am sure it gives you a feeling of comfort knowing the crew is keeping up with the safety of their passengers! Nice shots!

Hello again,

The crew participates in safety drills each and every week; the guests participate in a mustering drill at the beginning of every cruise. Everyone is aware of what to do in an emergency. We don't let fear of what might happen ruin our everyday lives out here any more than we would fear what might happen ruin our lives at home.

It is safer to be out here on this ship than it is to be driving on an Interstate Highway.

And, cruising compared to flying? I know I can swim; I know I can't fly!

Thanks, everyone, for stopping by.

Very best,
Lois

It's a good feeling to see that.
I think you are very safe on this ship.
