Old Red Barn Near Cherokee, North Carolina

Good morning,

Here is a picture I took while we were recently on our trip home from Florida to Ohio.

I asked My Honey to stop the car so I could get out and get this shot.  The log base of the barn was so different from the usual stone.  The barn had recently carefully been painted this bright red and the roof is in good condition.

I saw no other buildings or people or animals nearby.  This was just on a back road in North Carolina.

Such a pretty sight.

Enjoy,
Lois

What a great picture. All barns should be that shade of red!

I would have stopped, as well. What an interesting structure. Don't you wish these old buildings could tell their stories?

Nice find, Lois! The construction is different and a little strange that there was nothing else around, but its fresh coat of paint shows it's being used and will be there awhile.

this barn is the same colour as houses I have seen in Sweden, love it!

Good morning,

I was excited to see and photograph this barn, too. I didn't leave the road to get the picture, but did step out of the car. It is on the Cherokee Indian Reservation according to my calculations of where we were, but I could be slightly off the exact location. We were wandering around on the back roads.

Thank you so much, everyone, for stopping by.

Very best,
Lois

Ah yes! I remember seeing this barn a few days ago. How odd that the logs are painted, I think.

I like this and like you, I have never seen a barn with a log foundation either...I would love to know the story behind it.

I'm guessing that's a unique structure for a barn! Great photo!
