Heading North from Cherokee, North Carolina

Good morning,

Sadly, it was time to leave Cherokee, North Carolina, and the Great Smoky Mountains.  We had come to see some snow in the mountains and hadn't seen much yet, but would see some later in the day today.
Just as we were pulling out of Cherokee...
...I was fishing around in my new purse for my baby camera when My Honey suddenly stopped and said...
..."Look at this!"  The turkeys didn't think we should be out here so early in the morning and didn't appreciated being disturbed so they sauntered on down the road...
...but even in this low light we got some pictures.
It is absolutely beautiful to be out in the morning here.  It is still night near the ground as the sun comes up over the mountains.
We stopped by the river again.  My Honey got out of the car to take pictures.  I got this lovely shot from the car window.
The further North and higher we went into the mountains...
 ...the more snow we saw.
There was no problem with any snow on the roads, but the views of the snow were quite nice.
We stopped at several of the overview...
...spots where we had stopped last November.  The views of the trees were quite different.  Although not as colorful, they were still beautiful and provided a perfect background for this shot.
While standing at the same spot as the image above, I turned around to get a picture of the sunrise.
Back in the car and going deeper into the mountains...
...we stopped at another overlook even higher where these two were arguing over which would sit on the top of this plowed snow.
Again, we were nearly alone.  You can see my long shadow as I took this picture of our car in the morning sun.
My Honey was already over at the edge taking pictures of the valley below.  We took pictures from the same spot last November.

It is easy to see the snow lined road we just traveled below.

Images of our trip home will be continued tomorrow.  I hope you'll join us.

Very best,
Lois

Hello Everyone,

Yes, the snow was nice. We did get to get it in the Smoky Mountains and that was the plan for the drive home from Florida. :)

I have all kinds of fun things going on at home this time. ;)))))

Thank you, everyone, for stopping by and for your kind words.

Very best,
Lois
