Field Trip Across the River to Newport, Kentucky

Good morning,

My Honey and I took a field trip to Newport, Kentucky lately.  The image above was taken as we were passing downtown Cincinnati.  The twin buildings on the right are the world headquarters of Procter and Gamble.
Our destination was Newport on the Levee in Newport, Kentucky.
This is a shopping, dining, and entertainment center.
This big fish is outside Mitchell's Fish Market, a restaurant we have enjoyed several times.
 We passed the welcome center...
...and crossed the plaza to the Newport Aquarium, which was our destination.
The Newport Aquarium is always a great photo op.  The first exhibits on the tour were of beautiful fish of Africa.
We took so many pictures that turned out well that I'll share some of them in future posts.
Turtles are such wonderful creatures.  This shell is incredibly beautiful.  I prefer to see them in the wild, though.
This lady is feeding an eel.  It was quite a process as she dangled and released pieces of fish in front of the eel who looked as if he might have needed that special treatment.

We went to the Aquarium on a week day thinking it wouldn't be too crowded, but we were wrong.  There were plenty of kids and a little too often one or two managed to run over and knock on the glass (as we wanted to yell, "No, don't do that!" and their parents just ignored them) just as we were setting up our camera shots.  Kids are so cute. ;)

We did get plenty of good pictures of gorgeous aquatic life; I'll share more of them here from time to time.

I hope you enjoyed this part of our field trip.  It is so much fun to be a tourist.  :))

Best,
Lois

Nice post. I often wonder how many neat places I pass by as I drive South each year. But my goal on those trips is to get from Point A to Point B in the least amount of time. Getting from one state line to the next is a milestone!

I enjoyed this very much and your photos...I like how you get to see the world and never have to leave your home to do it.

my granddaughter, Audrey, and her mom were at the Newport Aquarium and brought me a postcard featuring a shark. It must be nice in Newport nowadays. My memories are from the days when it was hillbilly heaven. My parents had relatives from "Virginia who sometimes went there to visit their relatives."

Your photos are sparkling.

The turtle shell is gorgeous...The turtles i find on my walks here, always look dusty and dull...maybe I should rinse them before taking their photos this summer.

Good morning,

As a matter of fact, grammie g, I did make bread that day. ;) If we are staying home, I make it in the morning. If we are out during the day, I make it in the evening for the next morning.

Yes, Abe, Newport is very nice. Those of us old enough to remember the Newport of old, have very different memories of the place.

Thank you so very much, everyone, for stopping by and your kind comments.

Very best,
Lois

Lois, getting away for a day trip during the week is great and we do it as often as possible. There's an aquarium in Virginia Beach which we visited last year n Grenville's birthday!

Hi,

Your photos and story are so neat. We live in Oregon and have an aquarium in Oregon's town of Newport too.

Sometimes when I have tons of photos of one trip, I put them into a slide show (I use Slide.com just because it is free and easy), and then include them add that to post.

Thanks for sharing your Watery Wednesday photos!
