The story of the Old Catalpa Tree has finally come to an end.
That doesn't look like a whole lot of wood in that image until I say that only one fourth of the total shows. There are four rows of wood there. My Honey split it all himself and I stacked every chunk of it.
This tree has been an important part of living here for 31 years.
I wrote about the Vines Near the Old Catalpa Tree last summer.
The tree was part of our recent Photo Shoot with the Kids.
Then it was time: Catalpa Tree Down
Followed by the Stump Removal
Then the long process of Wood Splitting
And, More Splitting Wood *sigh*
And now, today's post is the finale: it's all chopped up.
This was all done between travel for business and our planned vacation. The weather worked with us and we have a great supply of firewood for next year after this wood is seasoned.
We actually enjoyed this project, got some good exercise, and lost some weight!
It's soon time to go back to sea for a few weeks. To the right of the image above we have another supply of seasoned wood ready to keep us warm for when we return later in the winter this year.
It has been fun documenting this project and I'm glad we have all the images. I hope you've had fun with us.

In Norway they say when you are chopping the wood yourself, it warms you twice. The first time when you chop it, the next when you burn it in the fireplace. Good for you to have it done before you leave for new adventures :)

That should keep you warm for awhile. Is the wood a hard wood? It's pretty. It's the same color as white oak when it's cut. OH! where are we going this trip. Some place WARM I hope...debbie

Yes, all that wood will be waiting for us when we get back from another trip in the Caribbean aboard Freedom of the Seas. Christmas on board will be just wonderful.
My blog will necessarily lag a few days again while I am on board the ship because of the internet connection. While at sea the satellite connection times out before I can upload images. I continue to take images and write every day in Dreamweaver, then upload when I have my air card connection in a US port.
