Trumpet Vine on Fire?

Good morning,

I took this picture of the Trumpet Vine (also known as Hummingbird Vine) while the sun was shining through the pedals.  I was surprised to see how the image looked when I downloaded it.  Instead of playing with it in Photoshop, I am sharing it the way the camera saw it.  So vibrant!
This Trumpet Vine is huge with blossoms all the way from just a few feet above the ground to at least 50 feet up into a tree.
Gorgeous!

Enjoy,
Lois

What a beautiful vine! How interesting that it is in the tree. In the spring we have a purple flowering vine in our area that you can see in the trees. The name of it escapes me at the moment........hmmm.......

Hi everyone,

Just a little update about my trumpet vine: I planted what looked like a little twig I had ordered through the mail next to the base of that three about 30 years ago. I watered it well and laid a little stone against it to guide it to touch the tree with the hope that it would attach itself to the tree. When I planted it, I thought I might have wasted my money, but, obviously, it worked! Some years it blooms more than other years. I think the blooms are dependent on how much rain we get and we got plenty this Spring.

Thanks for all of your kind comments.

All the best,
Lois

I always have a love-hate relationship with trumpet vine. Cannot help but think they are beautiful, but there was a certain cherry tree at the orchard that I was constantly pulling it, weedeating it...whatever I had to work with.

It would also start on a few apple trees, but nothing like on that cherry tree.
