More Viera Wetlands - Viera, Florida

Good morning,

We returned to Viera Wetlands for a second day of picture taking.  There had been rain overnight that left interesting designs in the roadway.  Again, only foot traffic was permitted.

I love it!  Foot traffic only (see earlier sign), but "...best observed from the safety of your vehicle." in this sign.  Go figure.
This is quite a large place and we did plenty of walking.

The wildlife was here to greet us...
...including that fellow in the center of the above image.
 Here's just a little closer view.  That's with a zoom - I didn't GET any closer.  ;)
For some reason this image makes me think of Kermit the Frog.
 Hmmm. Frog legs for breakfast?
On a happier note: pretty flowers. :)
 Lookout stations.

We saw plenty of these characters this time.  I could almost hear them calling to each other:  "Hey Ralph!  Did you put out that 'Foot Traffic Only' sign today?"
There were plenty of dragon flies.  I opted to carry a smaller camera this day after carrying a huge, heavy camera the day before.
Murphy had ordered up some rain while we were waaaaay out on the opposite side from our car...
...so we picked up the pace a little.

When the skies are a little friendlier, this is a peaceful place to stop and watch the world around us...
 ...while we are being watched.

We truly do enjoy this place and will be back again when we are in the neighborhood.

Enjoy,
Lois

Nothing better than the subtropics in winter!! The wildlife, the scenery, the mild weather [even if it does get rainy]. Your photos in both this post and the one below...super.

Great post! I just mention to Kjell on his post that Don and I really do need to get down there someday. But I can't really feature that happening anytime soon.

Lois, after being on the water for so many weeks it made me smile to red this post and the previous ones to see that you headed to watery sites.
