Cincinnati's Finest on Horseback

Good morning,

On a trip downtown we saw one of our Cincinnati's Finest on horseback.
It's been awhile since we've seen our mounted police.  How beautiful!
I was able to get these few shots from our car.

Back when our daughter was about 13 or 14 years old she and others in her age group worked as volunteers with park service where the horses were trained.  The kids did a lot of work shoveling, but their reward was being able to work with the horses.  They were part of the training of running around and making noise when asked to do so as well as care taking of the horses. It was a fabulous experience.

We are very proud of our mounted police here in Cincinnati.

All the best,
Lois

I can only imagine what a wonderful experience that had to be for your daughter! We had mounted police in Chicago of coarse but not here, it's a smaller town. We do have police on bicycles however for some of the larger events. Love Di ♥

it's so strange to see horses in the city, not used to seeing them anywhere but the country, mainly on my parent's farm... beautiful tho! =)

What a wonderful experience for your daughter back then in young age..These pictures are lovely.

I wonder to day if she your daughter is fond to ride horses at riding stables.

My niece owns a Riding stable now. Since a young girl like your daughter that was her passion to ride.

She bought her first horse won trophes, ribbons.

Now her daughter falls suite.

Now her Mom has a riding school and teaches girls like your daughter was.

Just was wondering.

Hi Everyone,

Yes, these are GORGEOUS horses that the Cincinnati Police use.

Sparkle: Our granddaughter is the horsewoman now. Our daughter trains our dogs and has won a whole room full of ribbons at AKC Agility trials. :) Everyone in the family loves animals!

Thanks, everyone, for stopping by.

All the best,
Lois

I've never seen reflector strips on horses before. It's a good idea.

Your lucky granddaughter! If only Chicago had had such a program when I was growing up there ...
