Driving Into the Storm in Florida

Good morning,

We have been on the road now for more than a week.  We started in Ohio and have driven to several different places in Florida.  Within nine days the weather we have encountered has been from gloriously beautiful blue skies to very dark grey skies with lots of wind and rain.
This series of images was taken in Florida.
I clicked the camera quite a few times every few seconds as we watched that line of storm clouds coming toward us...
...while we were going toward it.
 It got darker and darker...
...then seemed to lighten a bit as that cloud moved over us.
Then the rain began to fall...
 ...slowly at first...
...then so heavy we wisely slowed down.  The sky got so dark and the rain became so thick that we couldn't see at all.  I was too engrossed in what was happening to take more pictures then.
We pulled off the road at a rest stop to wait until the skies cleared.

No, that's not our car.  We did feel sorry for the people who were in it in this storm!  They were waiting out the storm under cover inside the rest stop.

I hope the weather is better where you are!

Best,
Lois

Oh Yes I know those storms SO WELL. My parents live in Florida. It's the lightning capital of the world. AND when it rains "you can NOT SEE a thing out there". BUT it's what makes it tropical.
"ENJOY"!!!
Big Hugs,
Donna

The people in the weird car probably had to sit in soggy seats for the next day and a half!

I have driven in that pouring rain several times while living in Orlando Fl...very wise to pull over...visibility is zero during one of these storms!!!

That almost looks like a motorcycle. I hate driving in storms like that.

Welcome to the South! They can have unbelievable thunderstorms down there! That car at the end is really eye catching!

Oh boy....color me jealous. I'd LOVE to see the heavy dark clouds show up on OUR side of the Gulf!! We need about a week's worth of day long rains like this. Beautiful photos Lois.

Weather here is dry and pleasant, which won't last long on the VA eastern shore once the summer heat sets in. Rain may be our forecast next week, so yours got there earlier, Lois.

What a car/cycle! It's trying it's best to storm here at the moment...bright sun with rolling thunder all about!

That is scary driving into that kind of a storm. I have done that many times and have had to pull over until it passed. The bike/car thingy is pretty cool (and wet). Safe travels to you!

I love weather like this, just now when driving....and not for days on end. But a day or two here and there sure is nice.
