U.S. Air Force 50th Anniversary Quilt

Good morning,

Happy Labor Day to those of us in the USA.  Today's post is about a labor of love, that's for sure!

This U.S. Air Force 50th Anniversary Quilt is displayed at the USAF Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB near Dayton, Ohio.
Of course, I immediately thought of my quilt friends when I saw it.
The quilt is so huge...

...that I had to take pictures of it pieces to show it to you.

Th quilt is at least two stories tall and is displayed in the lobby of the museum.

It is so beautiful the way the fabric of so many parts of the US Air Force were brought together in this quilt.  It's another "must see" if you get anywhere near Dayton, Ohio.

What a neat quilt. I love quilts. We have some that my wife's grandmother gave to us and several that Jilda's mom made. They are very special to us.
I've never been to that museum, but when we get up to Ohio, I'd like to have a look.
Happy Labor Day

Your quilt is art for sure. However the top photo of the two dogs in water! That is the most incrediable photo I have ever seen of dogs in water. This should be made into a poster and on your wall. Very nice.

That is truly a magnificent quilt! I just love all the detail.

A magnificent quilt, Lois. How was it constructed? By one person, or many hands doing the different quilt blocks? It is so beautifully displayed, as well. Thank you for sharing.

Unusual (at least for us) and quite moving: this is a work of art and love.

This work is absolutely amazing!!! I have a brother, my oldest brother who was in the Air Force for nearly 20 years.

This quilt is truly a work of art!! I can only imagine the work detail that took place for each and every piece.

I just had to shut things down today on my genealogy work....it'll be there tomorrow. So, thought I'd drop by and give y'all a big Texas Howdy-do!!!

I did not even take a camera when we went there.

Don't you wonder how long it took to put that quilt together? And wonder who all made the blocks...
