Birthday Party Pictures

Good morning,

I've finally had a chance to download and go through the images I took on My Honey's birthday.  Above is the picture we took before our son, his family, and a friend came for dinner.  Notice the calm, relaxed look on the Birthday Guy's face.  ;)
Close up of that shirt.  :))
This lovely centerpiece was sent from My Honey's family in Norway.  We displayed it on one of my Mother's plates and I built the dinner table design around it.  You'll note the table cloth changes during the day for dinner, dessert....
The guests have still not arrived, but we are getting close.

It's time to send the Birthday Guy out to grill the filets.  Oops, I missed pictures of that.  :(
Our son, wife, and six children have arrived!  (Note the guy creeping in from the left side of this image.)
Yes, it is the Birthday Guy with his camera.  He is so good that the family doesn't even realize he is there.
This is the picture he took of grandson Alex.  :)  I just love these shots!
Here are David, Kate, and Isaac at the game table.
And, of course, the wii is a favorite.  We can watch the National Geographics Channel and play wii at the same time. That's Anna using the wii fit.  Life is good.

Aside:  That tall ship model on the top of the television is the Christian Radich.  The real one is a Norwegian training ship and the Birthday Guy's first ship way back in 1967.  The model was an anniversary gift from me to him a few years ago.
David is patiently waiting his turn on the wii. ;)
Here are Isaac and Lexi at the game table.  Are our grand kids beautiful or what!
More waiting.
A wii dance?
David's turn.
And, finally dinner time.  This shot was taken by the Birthday Guy himself.  It was one of those, "Hey everyone!  Look over here!" shots.  You know how those turn out.

Left side of table:  me (talking, of course), Aunt Carol, David (who is always ready for a photo shot).
Right side of table:  daughter-in-law Crystal (standing), daughter Catherine, granddaughter Anna, son Don.

Look carefully to see Penny entering the room on the far, far left.  She is bringing us a toy.  ;)
This is the auxiliary table for the kids.  It works much better than putting the extra leaf in the dining room table and squeezing everyone in there.   Crystal is with Alex, Isaac, Lexi, and Kate.  It's another "Look over here, everyone!" shot.
And, finally, here is the cake!  The Birthday Guy said he remembers the birthday parties for older relatives when he was a child.  Back then sixty seemed SO OLD!
He got them all!
And, then it was time for presents.  :)

The grilling Birthday Guy is now on his third shirt of the day, this time matching David's shirt.  ;)  That's the third table cloth of the day, too.

What a marvelous day!  We had a grand time, but we hope Birthday Guy Kjell had the best time of all.

We love you, Honey, Dad, Grandpa, Birthday Guy, Kjell!

Lois

Lovely post, Lois. You have such a wonderful looking family. Please tell me, how do you pronounce Kjell? Is it "Kell", Is it "Jell", or is it "K-yell"?? Just curious. Answer me in this post, I'll come back and look.

We have a bridge out of town name the "Bjornberg Bridge". Everyone here pronounces it "June-Berg". I would have thought it would be "Bee-yornberg".

Hi Everyone,

Mona, Kjell is pronounced "Shell" most closely in English. It is slightly different in Norwegian, but he answers to Shell. I tell people to think "Sea Shell." It fits, right?

You are correct about your bridge name. Our Black Lab is Bjorn Erik (pronounced B-yorn Erik). His call name is Erik, though, so there are no problems when he competes.

I'm so sorry I can't send you some cake Debbie! It sure was good. :) That cake came from our good friends at the Kroger Bakery. ;) I made bread and all the sides the day of the party, so I was so glad Mr. Kroger had that cake available.

Thanks, everyone, for stopping by and for your kind comments.

Best,
Lois

Mona, one more thing I forgot to mention. Bjorn is a man's name in Norway. Bjorn also means Bear. Perhaps that makes sense for your bridge, too. :)

What a wonderful birthday party you had! Everyone looks like they had a great time, and I imagine you were very thankful all your renovations were finished.

I can remember when 30 seemed ancient, let alone 60, but now having passed that landmark a while ago 60 seems young.....

I'm just now getting to your blog. Had to get out early this morning so didn't have time for my usual blogs. What wonderful pictures and it is easy to see everyone had a great time. You've got so much to be thankful for.
