Mowyrstown, Ohio

Good morning,

We are still on our mini road trip in Ohio.  We passed through Mowyrstown, Ohio, when we passed through the only intersection in town.  When we realized we wanted to get pictures of that corner we turned into a parking lot next to the church to turn around.  Directly ahead of us was a back yard clothes line with three quilts blowing in the breeze.  The above image is taken through the windshield from quite a distance away.
It was quite a windy day to be replacing the roof on the three story U.S. Post Office, but these men were hard at work.  Every time there was a gust of wind, more shingles brought themselves down to the ground.
And, it is quite a long way down.
That stop light up there is the center of town.
Across the street is the Presbyterian Church.  I wonder if that is home made ice cream for sale. :)
 What a lovely church.
I wonder how many people worship here from the many nearby farms.

We had parked in a gas station to walk around and take these pictures.
I don't have pictures of the gas station, but directly across the street from it, on the fourth corner of the town is this row of stores.  There wasn't much happening in town other than the few cars that went by and the roof work.  These stores appeared empty except for that doorway on the right.
As we pulled out of the gas station and on our way toward Hillsboro, Ohio, I could see into the entryway of this building.  It appears someone spends some comfortable time here watching the traffic in the center of town.

This was a quiet place and a bit eerie.  There were traces of people, but very few people here.

Tomorrow we'll move on to Hillsboro.  I hope you'll join us.  :)

Best,
Lois

Gotta hand it to you! You have a real talent for getting unique pictures! Those guys standing on scaffolding and on the roof in high winds sent chills down my spine!

Your theme song could be "On the Road Again", Lois! I enjoyed the photo of the post office, but I would not like to be on that scaffolding! Some of the buildings remind me of ones in the older section of our town, where the Little Miami Bike Trail runs through. The old bank there has been turned into an old fashioned icecream parlor, with the vault still there!

Enjoy Hillsboro! Look for Bell's Opera House!

Looks like that cute little town is old and not much going on. I really liked the church steps! The way it came up on the corner. Pretty neat. Liked someone's little space too. Great litle space they fixed up cozy. Has to be a female...debbie

When I was younger than today, I would always climb the scaffolding, but, after my accident, I can't do it. Never mind, I am too old anyway.
More photos please Lois.

It looks like the post office and the church are the only going concerns left in that little town. The church is really quite impressive for such a small town, even when it was in its heyday.
