Lunch at Wanda's

Good morning,

We're still in Hillsboro, Ohio, and have walked across the street from the County Court House (yesterday's post) to have lunch at Wanda's that you see at the far right in the above image.
This is the view from the inside looking out.  Across the top of the image above the windows is a quote from John Adams.
High on another wall is a quote of Thomas Jefferson.  There is no question these people understand the U.S. Constitution the way the Founders meant for it to be understood.
Specials are on the white board on the back wall, just to the left of the Sarah Palin calendar. No matter what your politics, this is a really cool place.
Ohio has passed laws about smoking in public places.  All public places must post signs that smoking is not permitted as well as a hot line for reporting infractions.  Wanda has her own version of that sign.  ;)

It appears there is a special connection to the US Marines here, too.
The patrons were all very friendly as well as the serving staff.
We ordered BLTs (for my International readers, that's a Bacon Lettuce and Tomato sandwich) that were incredibly good.  You'll surely notice I still have that problem of starting to eat before I get the picture.  ;)

We have made a point to stop at local places to eat while we are on our road trips.  Wanda's has good people and good food.  We have a winner here no matter what your politics.  If you smoke though (we don't), you'll have to go outside.

Tomorrow we will continue our Ohio mini road trip toward the Ohio River.

Enjoy,
Lois

No smoking comrades! What a hoot.
By the way, I'll have to read more of your blog to find out what takes you out to sea as much as you go.

Roger and I like to eat at mom & pop places...that is what we call local places. I need to start taking in my little point & shoot camera.

You had to take a bite of the food to see if it was worthy a picture!

The no smoking rules are starting around here, also...which is fine with us. Husband cannot stand smoke, and he grew up with parents and grandparents that smoked...he always remembers being sick when a kid and having to travel in all their smoke!

Looks like a great place to eat! We always like to seek out the little local places too, and you can usually find the best ones by how many cars are in their parking lot. Since we don't have a great many of the chains in Fairbanks we like to hit some of them too. No matter where you are though it's hard to beat a BLT.
