Falmouth, Jamaica - A Walk on the Dock Side

Good morning,

Today we're in Falmouth, Jamaica, a port of call of Freedom of the Seas.
My friend, Alle, and I went for a walk to check out the shops we could see from the ship.

So much to buy!
 Dogs!

The merchants are lined up in front of the new buildings at the port.  Guests who are taking tours pass this way on the way to the meeting point for the tours.
 What a cool stool!
And, of course, there is Jamaican Music!

Here's a view looking back at the ship from the area near the tour buses.
 Beautiful Hibiscus.  :)
Here's one of several men on stilts who will be happy to provide a plastic lei and pose with you for a donation.  He's standing with my friend, Alle.  To get the size perspective, Alle is about 5'10" tall.
Above you can see construction of new buildings on the left and completed buildings on the right.
The Port of Falmouth, Jamaica, is working hard to complete construction at the dockside.  It will be interesting to see the progress the next time we are here.

Best,
Lois

it's neat to see the huge cruiser just 'pulled up and parked' so you can shop. :)

Quite an interesting place Lois. Looks like they have a little bit of everything to sell in their little markets.

My favorites were the carved wood dogs and I loved the giraffe table! The flowers were pretty too! ...maybe some day...debbie

Hey, Lois, I am visiting you today just getting caught-up on your travels while I chill out at our little cabin @ Lake Martin, AL. I have my mug of tea, my laptop, and I am sitting on the porch swing. I wish I could go cruisin' like you, my friend. That Jamaican on stilts is something else...what a great photo! :D

Blessings!
Ricki Jill

Hi,

There are many cool looking things in some of these markets until you get them home and wonder where in the world you will put/use them! ;)

Texwisgirl, it seems like we do that pretty often: pull up to the curb for some shopping. Here we are some years ago in Flaam Norway:

If you look about half was down the page, I've got a picture of where we had lunch at an outdoor restaurant right at the dock where we had tied up Splendour of the Seas. So cool! It was about as close as parking in front of McDonald's.

In Honningavaag, Norway, we "parked" in the center of town so there is a joke about running out and plugging the parking meter for the ship. That image is about half way down on the right side of this page:

Ricki Jill it sounds like you're having a great time! Nice to see you here. :)

Thanks, Doris, we are looking forward to a change of scenery in a few days!

Thanks to everyone for stopping by and for your kind words.

Very best,
Lois

I so enjoyed this adventure to Jamaica with you!! What a lot of lovelies to choose from! I would ahve a hard time resisting the dogs... especially if they were carved by hand!
The music... that must make it perfect!
Have fun!
