Ship Bridge Tour

Good morning,

On some cruise ships you can take a bridge tour.  Sometimes it is by invitation only;  sometimes a limited number of guests can sign up for the tour. This is different from ship to ship, even in the same company, but it is worth asking if you are interested.
These images, taken while the ship was in St. Thomas, U.S.V.I., are of Freedom of the Seas.  The image above was taken on the starboard wing bridge and captures the reflection of the sunset and the hillsides of St. Thomas beyond.
And, what a beautiful sunset it was.
The Captain and his Bridge Team have all the newest equipment available. ;)
The bridge itself is quite large, extending across the entire front of the ship and extending out (the wing bridge) over the water on each side for full visibility.
Here you'll also find the many plaques presented to the ship upon her inaugural visit to each port of call.
Some of the plaques...
...are one-of-a-kind pieces of art.
Some carry very familiar symbols of the ports visited.
As the sun disappeared over the mountains, the lights of St Thomas sparkled across the bay.
The Bridge Team prepared for departure and soon we sailed off to our next port of call.

What a beautiful sight.

Very best,
Lois

Very interesting Lois, besides the beauty of the impressive bridge, I noticed no chairs in front of the monitors...they stand...also, outside the windows, I see a walkway, makes keeping the massive windows clean a little easier. I wonder how often they need cleaning(bird droppings etc.) The ship certainly sparkles and shines on the inside!

Yes, the bridge is very impressive, isn't it. It is fascinating to see all of the advanced equipment that keeps the ship safe helps to find our way across the globe. Regarding the walk way outside the windows, those are cleaned regularly by the deck crew.

Thank you, everyone, for stopping by.

Very best,
Lois

I am little by little catching up on my blog reading since we've got home. Marty would love to tour the bridge if we go on another cruise so I'll have to keep it in mind to inquire about it. What a beautiful sunset and the perfect place to view it from.
