Orchid in Bloom

Good morning,

I just love our orchids.  Our granddaughter brought this one home a few years ago.  It appeared dead, but it was in a nice pot that we might want to have.  The pot and very dry plant sat in the living room all winter.  Then in the Spring I watered it and put it in the front window and a miracle happened:  it grew and bloomed!

This is the second year it has bloomed.  Before it bloomed the first time we didn't even know what color it would be.

So lovely!

Absolutely gorgeous! Do they usually go through a period of dormancy?

Hi Karen,

My orchids sure seem to go through a period of dormancy. ;) They bloom beautifully in the Spring. I have another one getting ready to bloom now, too. My window light is very limited here, but I catch every ray I can for my plants.
