Cormorant Fisherman - Eden Park, Cincinnati, USA

Good morning,

This artwork of a Cormorant Fisherman stands in Eden Park in Cincinnati.  It is a gift from our sister city of Gifu, Japan.
How lovely!

It was fun to see your Japanese fisherman on your blog! Cormorant fishing is from Gifu is well known in Japan. A couple of months ago I visited a place where the cormorant themselves were caught. Right on a cliff over the ocean. The cormorant would fly near this cliff where a manned lookout was placed on the side of a cliff. No cormorant would think a human might be there and SNAP the cormorant would be netted and collared and sent to Gifu. Not so sure I approve of cormorant fishing or cormorant catching.
