Log Splitting the Old Fashioned Way

Good morning,

That action shot above of My Honey splitting logs was the first and only attempt I made to get the action with my baby camera, a PowerShot SX260 HS 20XZoom.  I am very happy with the action shot of the flying logs.
We have an electric log splitter, but the handy dandy axe is kept inside the garage just around the corner from the stack of logs still to be split so...
...the stack calls to us every time we go out the back door.  ;)
We tell everyone who comes to visit to wear their log splitting clothes, but we don't get many takers. *chuckles*  I do have to say our friend, Bill, does pitch in sometimes when he is here.
We have plenty of logs for the rest of the cold weather, but it will be nice to get the rest of the logs that aren't split yet off of the lawn!

It's good to be home doing home things.

All the best,
Lois

Way back when we lived up in the White Mountains of Arizona we heated the house with a huge fireplace. It took lots of logs and lots of sawing and splitting to keep it going.

There's just no place like home - even if you "have" to split logs!!

There was a time when I was familiar with this kind of work!

Fun shots Lois, love the smell of logs burning when walking in the neighborhood on a cold night.

I won't even tell you about my attempts - on rare occasions - to split wood. So far, at least, I have not caused bodily harm to myself or anyone else.

No help from us, Lois, as the logs in our fireplaces are gas ones.
