Visiting Mom and Dad

Good morning,

Today is my parents' wedding anniversary.  They have both been gone for a long time now, but I think of them on this day each year and about the long and loving marriage that they had.
We stopped at the cemetery where they are buried.  There weren't many other people there.  In fact, I think we only saw one other car several sections away from us.
All markers are flat to the ground here.  I am told that it is easier for the grounds keepers this way.  Sadly, many of the markers sink so low the cut grass covers them over so graves are hard to find.  I do miss the more traditional grave markers.
There were more Canada Geese visiting here today than there were people.
They had found a low spot with a little lake of rain water.
There is a beautiful little lake and water fountain...
 ...complete with a foot bridge.

It was a nice day for a visit.  I truly do miss Mom and Dad.  Theirs was such a beautiful relationship:  I never heard a harsh word from one about the other.  My brothers and I knew we were truly loved.

All the best,
Lois

Oh, Lois....I'm sure their forever heavenly resting place is beautiful, but so is their final earthly resting place.

I think I like the traditional markers too. That is so great of you to go visit the grave on their annivesary. .....and I agree with Marty, I bet their house in heaven is gorgeous!

Lois, such warm memories of your parents will keep them with you; and such a lovely place to visit with them.

Each time we go home the first place I go after unloading the car is the stretch of beach I grew up on. My dad's ashes were spread just offshore and I often feel he's walking the beach with me.

Lovely setting with the bridge and lake, Lois. My parents are at Spring Grove...closer to your home actually than mine.

Peaceful sitting. I have a feeling in a few more years they will be pushing cremation. They will run out of spots to bury people. I've told my family, just cremate me, do what ever they want with the ashes, and have a big party. No funeral service and no viewing.

Lovely place to rest - for the living as well as those who are gone.
