Here Come the Peonies!

Good morning,

These are the first two peonies opening in my garden.  The blossoms are so heavy that I had to hold them up for the picture.  Sadly, the one picture I took has the shadow of the camera across one of the blooms.  It was so very bright out there it was difficult to see the screen on the back of the little PowerShot camera I carry in my pocket. A couple of hours after I took that picture above we had a hard rain and those flowers were knocked to the ground, but there are many more buds ready to open.  More peony pictures coming soon!

I notice mine are a little later than some of the others in the neighborhood, but mine are definitely worth the wait.  These white peonies are descendents of ones growing in my back yard when we bought this house 34 years ago.  I transplanted clumps of them to other places in the yard and am still enjoying them.  I've also added pink and red plants.
We still have Iris blooming, too.  So pretty!

I so enjoy seeing all of the flowers on other blogs, too.  This is a gorgeous Spring!

All the best,
Lois

I adore Peonies. When I was in London last week I visited Columbia Road flower market...the most wonderful Peonies and amazing flowers and plants. You would love it.

glad you got some rains to keep things growing, even if it did knock the blooms off.

Lois, I love peonies. I was talking to one of my sweet neighbors the other day admiring hers, and she said that when she divides them this fall she will share them with me! I am so excited.

Have a great weekend!

Your flowers are just beautiful! Here I can see a bit of green poking up out of the ground, but it will be a wait for the flowers. Peonies grow quite well here, although I don't have any in my yard. They bloom much later here than anywhere else, and they are actually working on developing farms for selling to the florist trade because of the late bloom.
