South Carolina to Florida

Good morning,

We are on the move again.  As you can see above, the weather was ordered by the ducks when we left our hotel in South Carolina.
It stayed this way...
...for the first couple of hours.  Then suddenly the skies opened up and the roads were dry.
Here we are ready to cross...
...the Savannah River.  This is about all of the river I can get from the car with the camera because of the high guard rail.
On the other side we were welcomed into Georgia.
The roads were dry and wide...
...and all of a sudden we found ourselves in Florida and what feels like...
...a giant bowl...
 ...of concrete spaghetti.
On our left is downtown Jacksonville, Florida.
But, ahead is still more spaghetti.

Only a few more miles down the road we will stop for the night in St. Augustine, Florida.

I hope you're having fun with us on our road trip.

Best,
Lois

My in-laws had a winter home in St. Petersburg and many years ago we lived in Georgia for a bit, so I've traveled the route many times. The 'bowls of spaghetti' are much larger now though.

concrete spaghetti - perfect description of those lovely citified twists and turns.

I was surprised to see no cars on the road! Looked like you were all alone.

...St. Augustine!! You know...I think it's the Shrimp Festival on Amelia Island near there! You're escaping our rain!! Have fun...

I enjoyed your bowls of spaghetti--I much prefer seeing them in someone else's photos than in person!

Lois, good description for the intertwining roadways. It's amazing to see them appear on the GPS whenever we travel cause there's nothing even close where we're living now. Safe travels.

Good morning,

The concrete spaghetti thought hit me on another trip. Now I can't go through an area like that without thinking of it. :) There was a great deal of construction in this area for years and it became a long parking lot. It's nice that the construction is finished now and traffic is flowing.

Thank you so much, everyone, for stopping by and for your very kind comments.

Best,
Lois
