Needlework Update

Good morning,

I've been busy since we've been traveling.  I always have a knit or crochet project (or two or three) going wherever I am.
I made this little card holder for my friend, Martha.  It is just the right size to hold a Seapass Card, credit card, or...
...business cards.  I like this so much I will make some of these for the shop, too.  :)
I finished the hat and scarf I had started for My Honey before I got here.  When we drive North through the mountains in November, it should come in handy.
This neck warmer can be worn this way with the black showing in the front or...
...this way with the shades of grey in the front. It, too, will go into the shop when I get home next month.
Since I took this picture of the back, I have finished this knit sweater.  It was a longer project than most and the yarn is just gorgeous.  The feel of this soft sweater will be wonderful when the weather is cool.  I just loved working with the softness, but it was a slower process because the nubby yarn requires me to watch it while I work.  I can work with most smooth yarns without watching each and every stitch.  The sweater is beautiful so it was worth the extra time required.
A few more luggage ID markers are always useful when we are out traveling.
Daughter Catherine and Aunt Carol will visit later this month so they will be the recipients of luggage markers.  :)
Last, but not least, I have to have a doll to keep my company.  ;)

So, that's the needlework update from the past month.  I've also started another baby blanket that will surely be in the next needlework update.

What are you making for Fall and Christmas gifts?  I am always trying to stay a season ahead, but suddenly time flies and that season is already here.

All the best,
Lois

Submarine Sighting!

Good morning,

This US Navy submarine was spotted off our port bow as we were sailing out of Port Canaveral.
Without the zoom, this is the view through our stateroom window.  Look carefully to see the submarine near the horizon, center right.
We see some really cool things out here!

Enjoy,
Lois

Capturing the View - Freedom of the Seas

Good morning,

On my afternoon walk I saw this lady capturing the view.

Is this beautiful or what!

Enjoy,

Labadee

Good morning,

One of the most picturesque ports of call of Freedom of the Seas is Royal Caribbean's private island, Labadee, Haiti.
A day at the beach is fantastic here:  sun, water activities, zip line, spa treatments, and more.  Ah, yes, beautiful!
And, of course, plenty of photo opportunities!
I took these images and the current header image from the helipad while we were in Labadee.
What a gorgeous day at such a beautiful place!

Enjoy!

Lunch at Casanova's in Grand Caman

Good morning,

Our dear friends Martha and Russell cruised with us for two weeks aboard Freedom of the Seas.  They were so very kind to take us to lunch at Casanova's Restaurant in Grand Cayman once again!
As we pulled away from Freedom aboard the tender boat...
...we could get marvelous images of the ship at anchor.
That pink building is Casanova's.
We landed at the tender dock where there are many high-end stores as well as souvenir shops and even ladies ready to braid your hair.  We passed on the hair braiding.  ;)
After just a short walk, we arrived at Casanova's.
This is a "real!" Italian restaurant.  Above are pictures of the family.
This is our view of Freedom from our seat on the deck of the restaurant.  Wow!
The reflection of the ship in the window makes a beautiful picture, too.  Also caught in that image are Martha and Russell sitting across from us at the table.
Oh, the menu.  Everything is wonderful!
So, we tried much of it!
Divers arrived at the dock just beyond the deck where we were dining.
The pirate tour boat provides quite a contrast with Freedom.  To the right is one of the Freedom's tender boats.
After lunch when we boarded the tender we could see to the bottom of the very clear sea.  Look carefully to see the little fishies in the sea.  ;)
We passed very close to that pirate ship...
 as we returned to Freedom...
...and another tender boat moved through all the blue to bring another group of guests back to the "mother ship" Freedom of the Seas.

Thank you so very much, Martha and Russell, for a marvelous lunch and, most importantly, for your friendship.

All the best,
Lois

White Roses

Good morning,

Our dear friend Jeff gave us roses from the Freedom of the Seas On Board Florist again.  :)))
I not only love roses, I love to take pictures of them.
I took these images with my baby camera (Canon Powershot SX210 IS) in natural light.
I don't at all mind that they are slightly "muted."  I love the way they look!

I hope you enjoy them, too.  :)

Thank you, Jeff!

Oh God thy sea is so great and my boat is so small.

Good morning,

While we are out at sea we often see very small boats that come by our large ship to take a look.

These images were taken while Freedom of the Seas was tied up at the private island of Labadee. Many of these men are employed on the island.

I could not help but think of the famous fisherman's prayer.
