Sardines in Tomato Sauce

 

 Good morning,

This is a fun post.  We've long known that Kjell likes canned sardines in tomato sauce.  Catherine and I always look for them when shopping, but we haven't found them locally for years.

While in Hawaii, Catherine found and bought one can of these to bring home to Kjell.  He liked them so much that I looked on line and was able to order a case of them for him.

He is now in Sardines in Tomato Sauce heaven.

Kjell's Coasters

 Good morning,

This is one of Kjell's current projects.  It is a black slate drink coaster with a laser engraved design.  He is doing a fabulous job of making some from other images he has taken, too, but I'm not showing them yet because they will be gifts.

Maui Airport

On the way home, Catherine and Erica had a layover of several hours in the Maui Airport.

 Catherine knew I would like seeing these little crocheted toys.  What a perfect little item to take home to a little one or have as a travel buddy yourself.

Afternoon Snack

 Good morning,

Catherine said she and Erica picked up this sweet treat from a vendor while they were out and about in Honolulu.  

This is Hawaiian shaved ice with condensed milk topping.  

Interesting combination (to me), but sure sounds yummy!  Have you ever eaten this?

Hilton Resort in Honolulu

 Good morning,

Here are a few more images Catherine took on the grounds of the Hilton Resort in Honolulu.  

Erica wanted to bring some pigeons home since she keeps pigeons on her property at home.  This pretty white one would be lovely to have at home, right?  ;)  

The wild life loves this property.

 Turtles!  All the wildlife on the hotel property is terrific.

Goofy's Restaurant

Catherine and Erica are home from Hawaii now, but she has sent me even more pictures from her trip. 

 Catherine and Erica has been to Hawaii at least four times now, and it's fun to see the different places they have found.  She said this was a local restaurant that was excellent.

 Very cool decor, too.  :)  It brings back memories.

Work in Process - Large Afghan Blanket

 Good morning,

I'm finally getting my newest Large Afghan Blanket put together.  I am just delighted with the colors and how the arrangement looks when together!  I'm hoping to have it in the shop soon. 

I'm crocheting every day to keep new afghans in stock.  In the meantime, there are many other afghan blankets in a variety of sizes and colors ready to ship.

No Fishing!

 Good morning,

The neighbors may think I'm nuts when I lean out the back door an call to Lily, "Lily!  No fishing!"  Lily is fascinated by the goldfish in our pond.  Above you see her holding her froggie stuffy toy.  Only once have I seen her drop a toy in the pond.  It took quite awhile for her to get it out and I don't think she has done it again.

 It has been so warm for a week or so that the Snow Drop flowers are blooming!  These flowers are around the post that supports the electric line to the pond.

 He's not easy to see, so I supplied an arrow.  This is one of three goldfish alive and well in our pond.  We're not quite sure what happened to the other half dozen or so....  Perhaps Lily knows?

 Here's a wider shot of Lily watching her fish.  The red item in the pond is a tank deicer.  It keeps the pond free of ice in the winter.  The fish appreciated their "heated pool."  Farmers use tank deicers to keep water supplies from freezing for livestock.

Red Crested Cardinal

 Good morning,

That handsome fellow above is a Red Crested Cardinal.  Catherine sent me the image from Hawaii.  Since the bird looks so much like our Cardinals here in the US Midwest except for the colors, I was curious to know more about him.

 They enjoyed a luncheon at a hotel restaurant overlooking the ocean where...

Sushi Lunch in Honolulu

While her friend is attending meetings, Catherine went to the ABC store in Honolulu to buy some Hawaiian coffee to bring home.  She picked up some sushi while there.  Yes, it was fresh and delicious.

Delta First Class to Hawaii

 Good morning,

Catherine and her friend, Erica, are in Hawaii for a few days while Erica is attending meetings. 

The gals were upgraded to First Class (Erica flies A LOT! - she is just back from Malta) and this is the meal they received in flight.  Catherine said it was delicious.

 What fun!

Sunny Day in February

 Good morning,

There's a saying in Cincinnati that if you don't like the weather, just wait ten minutes and it will change.

We have had a very wide variety of weather in the past few weeks from frigid temperatures to warm spring-like days.  We've had about three weeks of rain, and now, suddenly, bright winter sun.

Wendy is enjoying her deck chair on the patio.  It's just so pretty outside!

I hope the weather is comfortable and pretty wherever you are.

 Good morning,

Catherine and a friend flew to Hawaii yesterday.  She sent me these images from the Minneapolis airport.

 I just love the combinations of color in this series.

 I take many colors and combinations of colors from nature as I design my needlework. 

Blue has always been my favorite color and these shades of blue, turquoise, and green are just so pretty to me.
