Kjell has fired up the smoker for the season. He made smoked salmon that is just fabulous!
It smells wonderful already....
He finished it with citrus (grapefruit, orange, lemon) marmalade.

He cured raw salmon with salt, sugar, dill, and the very best ingredient: cognac!

I published his recipe earlier here. Back then he used Aquavit (Norwegian shooter) in place of cognac. I think we all prefer cognac. :)

My Mother had a number of lilac bushes along the side of our home where I grew up. I made sure to plant a similar bush in her memory. She loved flowers, all kinds of flowers, but I know lilacs were some of her favorites.
What a lovely way to remember my Mother.

These pretty white iris remind me of my dear friend Barb.
Barb gave me the bulbs that she rescued before she moved. Now that she is gone, the iris come back every year to bring fond memories of our friendship.
There is something wonderful about living in the same home for so many years.
