That is a very beautiful gift! At a craft show here a man made similar boxes out of old cedar tree roots and branches. He actually scoured beaches in British Columbia for the wood! The ends of the wood were finished but the actual cedar was left natural. He would have a drawer or two in them and a tiny secret drawer in the back of each one. Your husband does beautiful work.
