Old Savannah Trolley Tour

Good morning,

We visited Savannah, Georgia, with the intent to visit Civil War sites.  But, the rains came so we opted to take a trolley tour instead.

Above is a trolley similar to the one where we were riding and taking pictures.

We were here and took this tour nine years ago and were glad to do it again.  The rain became a drizzle;  it was just enough that we wouldn't have wanted to risk getting our cameras wet if we were walking.

Our driver, Tony, did an excellent job of describing the many gorgeous homes and businesses we passed.

Savannah has many squares, each with its own monument or statue.

 This old home is now a bed and breakfast.

 This is the Presbyterian Church.  The tower was featured at the beginning of the Forrest Gump movie.

 This tavern was featured in a movie, also.  Sorry, I can't remember which one.  You'll also note the Spanish Moss hanging from the trees.

 This building once housed the first Ford Dealership in Savannah.

 Another square and more monuments.

 This house has an interesting story.  The owner also owned an iron company.  He said anything that could be made from concrete or stone could be made of iron.  That stairway and everything that you see that isn't stucco walls and doors is made of iron.

 Another square and more Spanish Moss.  We were warned that the Spanish Moss is home of chiggers so not to touch!

 This old home houses the Georgia Historical Society.

 These homes are just gorgeous.

 Also so very pretty is this home in the African American district of segregation days.

 Our tour also took us to the river and the a view of the tourist district there.

This one and a half hour tour was very, very enjoyable.
