Good morning,
I took a few candid shots of My Honey working on a custom order for a customer of our shop. He's designing and making a box similar to the one he made for me for Mother's Day. See the post of that finished box here.
My Honey designs the artwork for the box on his computer to be made with his CNC machine. He estimated the box he made for me took 50 hours to complete just for the machine time, which is, of course, in addition to all design, assembly, and finishing time..
The pieces are beginning to come together. After all of the designs are engraved on each piece, there is still a great deal to do with assembly, flocking the interior, and finishing the wood. The results are extraordinary!
Artist at work!

Does your husband have a lathe?I really want a lathe! I know he didn't need a lathe to make your most excellent box, but I was wondering if he had a lathe?!?
Hi Mark,
Yes, Kjell has a lathe, in fact more than one. He makes turned wood pens, candlesticks, seam rippers, bottle stoppers, etc., that we have in the shop.
If you want to see what he makes, here's the link: http://www.EvensensProductions.com.
There are links to wood and other sections of the shop shown on the left side of that front page.
All the best,
Lois
It's interesting to see how your husband works - that's precision wood work.
I've got a beautiful hand-made wood box , but it has been made with simple, rudimentary carving tools, not with computer help.
Anyway, it seems your husband is a very skillful person.
Your husband really does lovely work!
