it is pretty and clean looking.
I will definitely show my husband this. He was in the Navy in the 60's. I'm sure the ships were gray back then!
My husband looked this ship up. It doesn't go into battle. I wonder if that's why it's painted white or if the Navy has changed and painting all their ships white?
It's a USNS, US Navy Ship, as opposed to a USS, United States Ship.
USNS's aren't warships per se. They have civilians on board, and no major weapons. USS's are warships. We got fuel from some USNS's but that's about it.
My first ship was USS Somers, a Guided Missile Destroyer, my second ship was the USS Brewton, a Fast Frigate.
And all the USS's are haze grey, except submarines.

Apparently the ship is going to working for the airforce tracking missile launches and such by foreign governments. It will have a civillian crew. The radar the ship uses can " track an object the size of a baseball over San Francisco from a location in the Chesapeake Bay"
