Old Glory in the Snow
Good morning,
Old Glory is beautiful everywhere. It is especially glorious on this black and white day.
I don't know if the flag protocol still exists today, but it should be taken down in in-climate weather and at night unless there is a light shining on it. But, I hardily disagree with that...I think it should be flown 24/7!!!
This flag is in our front yard; we just had it installed within the year. This shot was taken after the snow had fallen and it was in the middle of the day. We have two lights on the flag: one solar light above it and an electric spotlight on it from the ground. The flag is flown 24/7 except in extreme weather. It is beautifully lit at night and we can see it from our dining room and bedroom windows as well as from our third floor. We have lived in this house since 1979 and a flag pole with appropriate base has always been something I wanted to have. My Honey is an American by Choice and we are both very proud of our country and our flag.
Yes, there is still flag etiquette and it can be found here:

A nice touch and if only the wind would have cooperated to have the flag furling for a more dramatic effect, Lois.
Pretty photo.
Yep...it sure is
It shows a calm crisp day. I can imagine being there.

Great shot!
That's a great photo! I love the red splash of color from the flag amidst all that B&W: Nicely Done!!

All the best,
Lois
That is beautiful Lois. The flag really stands out against the snow.
It almost looks like you had a black and white photo with a program that colored the flag.
Visitors to the USA always notice how ubiquitous the flag is here. I think it is flown even more post-September 11.
Such a lovely picture, Lois. The colors of the Flag against the starkness of winter is quite moving.

Beautiful shot! Our flag flies all the time, as do many in our area.
This really is a nice shot of Old Glory.
