Good morning,
Here we go again for a country drive. We're on our way East of Cincinnati on US Route 52. We crossed the "Big Mac" bridge at Cincinnati and headed into Kentucky...
...then after a few miles going around a "loop" in Northern Kentucky crossed the Ohio River once again...
...near Riverbend, the summer home of the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, where the Interstate crosses US Route 52, and Ohio Scenic Highway along the river.
It wasn't long before we were on the country road with plenty of sights to see. That's a tobacco barn with the tobacco all hung to dry. Sadly, I had some reflections because of the position of the sun.
Notice how the power line poles are leaning. The hill is obviously shifting to the right, toward the river.
We remember seeing this old place along the river a long time ago. It appears the roof has been replaced, but most the vines on the walls are untouched.
There are more and more quilt barns in Ohio now, too. We first noticed them in Kentucky quite a few years ago.
We drove through numerous small towns.
Many of them were once quite active little towns. Now many buildings are boarded up.
So, on we went into the countryside along the river.
We are on our way to have a lovely lunch at a vineyard restaurant. More images to come. I hope you'll join us.
All the best,
Lois

What a lovely trip in the countryside. I really enjoy taking the road less travelled and enjoying the sights of the country roads and towns. It's sad to see old places boarded up isn't it. Have a lovely weekend Lois!
I wish the tobacco companies were hung out to dry. Sorry KY.
Thanks for your comment on my blog! Don't you just love those road trips!
I love day trips like this!!! [Altho, the bridges I could do without. LOL]...such a quaint area.
It looks like a nice road trip!
We also use to travel around here in Andalusia, the Southern of Spain. There are many small villages in the mountains that are so lovely.

love the old country buildings and barns. sad about the town buildings, though.
What a nice way to spend the day. I love the backroads. . . just don't get there much. In NYS, there is Route 20 that runs across the state. There are places there that have been there for decades, old motels, farm land, antique shops, one-of-a-kind small restaurants.
I love your road trips.
Lovely day for a lovely drive. It is good to look and, as far as the eye can see, see no parking lots :-)

Nice to see your "country" routes.
Nice drive! And your grandson looks like he had a great birthday celebration!
I especially love the old downtown areas.
I think I would like to tag along on some of your drives...but can you imagine 3 photographers in one group...
