I love containers and eventually you'll see many of the ones I knit and crochet.
Today's container is very easy to make and can be used for much more than just your casino winnings. But, I made this one for a friend who cruises often and loves to pass through the casino several times a day to see which slot machine might be ready to pay off.
This is another great pattern to do with junior crocheters.I've made similar little crochet bags as purses for little girls, as marble bags for little boys, as gift bags for small gifts, and on and on. So, here's the pattern for this one:
Lucky Money Bag - Little Double Crochet Sack
J hook
Worsted weight, size 4 yarn. This item would be fun in novelty yarn, too. For the pictured item, red was requested and I'm at sea where I can't get to my yarn stash so I used two strands of lighter weight Norwegian wool held together to equal size 4 yarn.
Gauge not too important, but stitches should be close together to keep your fortune from slipping away. Change hook and yarn as necessary to achieve a fabric that works for you.
Notes: ch 2 always counts as first dc in a round. join each round with ss. Do not turn work.
Round 1: (rs) Chain 4, join with ss, 12 dc in ring.
Round 2: work 2 dc in each st of round 1. (24 dc)
Round 3: work 2 dc in first st, 1 dc in next st around. (36 dc)
Rounds 4 - 9 even in dc
Round for draw string: *2 dc, skip 2 st, ch 2. Repeat from * around. join with ss.
Ruffle round: ss to next ch 2 sp. In each ch 2 sp of previous round, work (dc, ch 1) 3 times
Break off and weave in ends.
Draw string: make a chain 20 " long. Weave through spaces on ruffle round. Tie draw string ends together.
