Good morning,
One of the evenings in Coconut Grove we went out for a walk in the neighborhood to find a place to eat dinner.
The beautiful old buildings here have been reclaimed to produce quite a tourist district.
We stepped across the street to a part of the area that was not quite so fancy. We walked past the tattoo parlor, piercings parlor, and to a sports bar where we had some great ribs for dinner.
We strolled back to the upscale area and I took quite a few pictures along the way.
Although there was a great deal of car traffic, there were very few people walking on the street.
As we neared the Coco Walk once again, we noticed two friends on the second floor of this building....
...and they saw us, too. :)
Before we crossed the street to return to the area of our hotel we were almost the targets of a pickpocket. A woman moved in quickly and was just about to grab My Honey's wallet, but we saw her coming. She wisely moved away quickly when it was obvious we understood her intentions. It was a chilling experience because it all happened so fast and could have had a bad outcome.
Enjoy your travels wherever you go, but being street smart sure does pay off.
All the best,
Lois

so sad that where tourists are, so are thieves.
Did you get any tattoos or piercings?
Glad the pickpocket didn't get you!
No, Mark, no tattoos or piercings. They are not our style. :)
I have always thought that I would be immune to pickpockets, but probably not so. It never hurts to get reminders that there are people out there that will take advantage of you.
Glad you didn't get robed. That must have been awful, even experiencing something like that. safe travels Lois.

A nice evening walk that could have been totally spoiled by the pickpocket. Travel is fun, but you really do have to be aware of your surroundings. It's not just the shops and restaurants who are out to take your money.
Your honey's almost disastrous meeting with a pickpocket shows that we can never be too careful when out. Thanks for the reminder, Lois.
I have been enjoying the views of this famed hotel which still seems to retain its charm.
