Ohio River at Maysville, Kentucky

Good morning,

This is the Simon Kenton Memorial Bridge across the Ohio River at Maysville, Kentucky, as seen from Aberdeen, Ohio.

Maysville, Kentucky, is home to Rosemary Clooney, aunt to the famous George, and Nick, father to the famous George.

We chatted with some very nice people here who said the Mississippi Queen had just left a couple of hours earlier after over-nighting at the Port of Maysville.  Back in 1989 I took my Dad on a Delta Queen cruise and we also over-nighted here in Maysville.  Back then I got a kick out of a port tour that was sold on the ship for a walking tour of Maysville.  My Dad and I took our own walking tour and completed it in about 20 minutes.

We were happy to see Maysville from the Ohio side this time.

All the best,

Lois

How interesting to see this bridge. My husband was there for a work project at a power plant many years ago. He bought me a wooden candle box with that bridge burned through one side of the box. Pretty cool eh?

Oh, I didn't realize Rosemary and George were related! Hmmm. I guess I am way out of the loop. :))

Hi Lois! I always enjoy my visits to your blog. My husband has a Harley that he use to be able to ride. It is just sitting now and I wish he could sell it. Do you sell patterns of your beautiful work? I love the puppy sweater and would love to make one for our grandson. I would need a patter 18 months to 2 years.
Love,
Marie

This post brings back lots of good memories, Lois. My college roommate(Morehead State) lived in Flemingsburg and I used to spend weekends with her. We went to Aberdeen to chase wild boys at the bowling alley! :-) Then in more mature days I ran an adult basic education program in this region. Second home for me.

These days George has a pretty cool place on the shore of Lake Como. But, this place looks pretty cool, too.

When you look at the big rivers, do you ever think of traveling on them in canoes? I always think of that and wonder who had the nerve to cross them the first time...specially the Mississippi.
